Robbie Murrie has looked through my work so far and has given me his thoughts.
He suggested that I try and refine the project down to a more singular style as there is a lot of variation between each shoot and the content in them.
He said that there was more energy and story told in the images where I was out shooting with the painter Rook using flash while he went on a mission painting throw ups and tags around Glasgow. rather than the more posed portrait images with the other artists in the studios and on location. he also suggested that the colour palette shift between the digital and film was very noticeable and that it would be better to completely separate them for the final project.
He also suggested trying to get more of the artists interacting with one another rather than just painting as this project is focused on showcasing a s subculture.
Robbie also said that I should look at getting the best of my film images rescanned as he could tell they were done at gulag due to the colour cast in the images. Ive asked him to give me a crash course on using a flex tight scanner to do them myself and get the best out of each negative.
as well as that he said that there were good images in all of the shoots but they needed refined down to the best of each.
If I do make a zine for the project Robbie thinks that some quotes or small passages from the artists would make a good addition to it.
ive attached that short conversation bellow and will update on any further advice or tips he gives me before submission.
