But is it relevant to the current scene or story arc you’re presenting? Surely, there is a time and place for your wonderful muse to go.

What this means is that good writing benefits from sitting for a bit. After you’ve written, edited, etc, take time to go do something else, and come back to it later. Often times, when you come back to it, you may spot some wordiness or mistakes you may have missed at first.
