Ok, I haven't seen Miraculous Ladybug so I apologise if I get Adrien's character wrong bUT!!!

I imagine they're classmates/exchange students and Adrien doesn't understand why Arven just, does not like people. So he stays away and hopes the guy can make his own friends...

Then as Chat Noir (I think that's his herosona) he uncovers the secrets of the Paradox machine and thus Arven's backstory. Now he's putting more effort into befriending the campsite chef!

Meanwhile Arven is just thankful to have someone around he can talk to and will actually respond (he loves his Pokémon, but they can't hold a conversation) and maybe stumbled his way into feelings :')

just a little Adven to warm up your days <3 nothing much but it's been a bit since I've digitally drawn her! And what better way than to test with a color tip I was meaning to try with CSP that involves Hard Light on a flat copied layer, Brightness with a orange or other hue color layer and clipping the second layer!
