DAY 8 - Sunday 8th December Diamonds are a girls best friend. Hi all! Hope you're having a lovely Sunday! What are getting up too? In putting up my tree later, id love to see yours! 🎄 So today's question all around riyal women. I would like to know, What is your favourite royal tiara? My fav has to be the Danish Ruby Parure Tiara. When I saw Mary wearing this I just feel in love with it! The story starts in Napoleon Bonaparte. For his coronation the Emperor of France wanted it to be a big occasion in 1804. Therefore he gave all his marshals money to buy jewellery for their wives. One man was Jean Baptise Bernadotte for his wife Désirée Clary. Who would later become King Carol XIV Johan and Queen Desideria Of Sweden. In modern times the tiara is associated with, both Princess Of Sweden, Queen Ingrid Of Denmark. So you may think this is how the tiara came to be Danish? Well actually Queen Louise received it as a wedding gift from her grandmother Queen Josephine of Sweden (Désirée's daughter in law) because the rubies and diamonds were like the Danish flag. Queen Louise passed it into her son, Prince Christian's bride Alexandrine as a wedding gift. Although she would have to wait till Louise passed away to get the rest of the Parure. It was Alexandrine who gave the tiara to Ingrid when she married Prince Fredrick of Denmark in 1935. Ingrid decided to change the tiara slightly. The original was a small reef, in 1947 she took two broaches and added them to tiara. When Queen Ingrid died in 2000 she left the tiara to her grandson Crown Prince Fredrick Of Sweden. Which in turn meant Fredrick's wife inherits the tiara. So when Fredrick married Mary she became the owner. She inherited the whole Parure. The necklace, the earrings, the brooch, the brackets, hairpins and a ring which Mary added to the collection. She wore it twice pre wedding in 2004. She also altered the tiara, she added more leaves, made it into a more compact shape and changed the frame to fit her head. Whenever Mary wears this is always think she looks grand and beautiful. It's also a tiara full of history. Jess Disclaimer: I do not claim to be the owner of the photos nor do I take credit for them. If they are yours and wish for me to take them down just say.
