max blinks at her for a moment,  completely & utterly confused--  basically asking  ‘are you serious???’  just through his expression and demeanor.  honestly believing he didn't make his annoyance obvious enough upon his first reaction,  the boy dramatically rolls his eyes so hard he could almost hear a pop.

‘  ......yeah ? and why would i ask you for help ??  who says that you’re even reliable in the first place ??  i don’t decide to make deals like that with just  ANYBODY .  ’  he didn't appear to care that this was nikki’s sister he was talking to,  apparently he wouldn't even give her the benefit of the doubt.

as his mind drifts back over to what just transpired,  he realizes the amount of trouble he would get into would be substantial if any of the counselors found out about the destruction done to their cabin.  PLUS ,  ronnie just so happens to be a witness,  so he needs her on his side in order to do some damage control.

so that’s fucking wonderful.  he’s at a disadvantage here.
