max immediately inched back--  appearing quite uncomfortable,  he averts his eyes before turning his expression into that of an irked one.  damn it,  he knew he should’ve been more careful while watching the other,  but he tried his best to not seem intimidated.

for a second he didn’t do much besides rubbing his shoulder in reaction,  contemplating what words he wanted to say in return.

‘  ....okay,  whatever,  i get it.  ’  there’s a beat.  ‘  if you’re lost, why don’t you just get on your way already ??  it’s getting dark and we both know  THAT’S  not gonna help you with your problem.  ’

if anything,  he looks more irritated upon being asked about his family.  ‘  uhhh,  and is it any of your business ??  i’ll be  FINE .  ’

max blinks at her for a moment,  completely & utterly confused--  basically asking  ‘are you serious???’  just through his expression and demeanor.  honestly believing he didn't make his annoyance obvious enough upon his first reaction,  the boy dramatically rolls his eyes so hard he could almost hear a pop.

‘  ......yeah ? and why would i ask you for help ??  who says that you’re even reliable in the first place ??  i don’t decide to make deals like that with just  ANYBODY .  ’  he didn't appear to care that this was nikki’s sister he was talking to,  apparently he wouldn't even give her the benefit of the doubt.

as his mind drifts back over to what just transpired,  he realizes the amount of trouble he would get into would be substantial if any of the counselors found out about the destruction done to their cabin.  PLUS ,  ronnie just so happens to be a witness,  so he needs her on his side in order to do some damage control.

so that’s fucking wonderful.  he’s at a disadvantage here.

he’s seen pouting and grumbling to himself for a bit,  before he crosses his arms.  desperate times call for desperate measures,  he guessed.  ‘  ffff.... god damn it. fucking--  FINE .  just,  at least tell me what it is you want so i’m not going in blind here.  ’
