Evaluation
Overall I found this assignment fun but also extremely stressful
My biggest problem throughout doing this was finding correct footage. Due to my first method of obtaining the clips I wanted not working due to sound, I had to turn to online clips. This proved difficult as most of them either had sound or speaking over them so I was very limited to what clips I could actually use in my edit.
If I were to do this assignment again I would try to pick a film which I had access to the film file so I could capture footage straight from the film with no voice overs or music in the background.
Timeline
Creating Sky Ident
I attempted to create my own sky logo in the style the great wall text was appearing at the end of my edit. I did this by sourcing a high quality image of Sky’s logo and putting it into after effects.
Then I turned it into a 3D layer and brought it behind the camera
Then brought it forward at a fast enough pace to match the beat of the music.
I continued to do this for when the film will premier on the channel so they all arrived on screen at the same time.
Then I eased the keyframes to make the motion sharper and then we have the finished product.
To put this clip into my edit I had to render it out in the same quality I was editing my footage in.
Sky Cinema Ident
I can’t not forget about what this assignment was aimed at which was advertising a film onto a channel. To make this film fit to Sky Cinema I went onto their youtube channel to look at the Idents they use before or after a movie.
Due to sky having a transparent ident I couldn't find a template to use at the end of the edit of my promo trailer.
Research
Picking The Channel
So the main part of this assignment is to advertise on a channel of your choosing using an appropriate style the channel will use. Seeing as I watch sky in the house and I'm addicted to the movie section, I saw appropriate that I advertised for sky cinema as i watch these channels constantly. Sky cinemas has multiple different styles of advertising depending on what they are trying to do. When they are advertising the channel because they want people to pay for it, they advertise a variety of all the films they will show on the channel in one big trailer. If they are trying to advertise a premier of a movie depending on the tone of the movie depends on what the TV spot will look like. Here are a few of the adverts I like on sky.
Research
Picking between film or tv series
After researching a variety of promos i finally narrowed what i wanted to do down to either advertising for a film or a television series. The reason I wanted to do this is because naturally I am interested in these and I hope that I have more of an understanding how they are advertised.

Genre
While researching it became more apparent how much of an effect on the promo i was watching, the genre had upon the footage that were used in the adverts. An extreme contrast to compare would be horror and comedy, Horror has a dark feeling to it using slow and eerie music with a combination of slow and fast cuts depending on the scenes. Whereas in a comedy promo everything is a lot more happier and jolly, there are mostly happy facial expressions the music doesn't make you feel on edge and some occasional laughter is thrown in on the jokes of the advert.
