Hansol knows almost nothing about fighting. He himself has never been one who likes to engage in any sort of physical altercation and, as such, he has made a clear effort to avoid so much as training for one. He’s the kind of person who avoids fights- avoids getting in a situation where he would get punched or kicked in the first place. Yeji might frown at him for his lack of ability to honestly protect himself, but it hasn’t quite changed his mind yet. His mind is the only weapon he’s really focused on. He hates the way that thought sounds though. It feels arrogant and gross. Yes, he’s smart. Yes, he can avoid conflict usually just by talking, but it’s not something he wants to shout to the world about. It’s not something he feels a need to remind himself of over and over, either. He prefers to just let things happen... He’s tired of metaphors.
But Hansol certainly can’t deny that displays of fighting skill and strength are impressive. There’s something innately interesting about running into someone who’s skill are the opposite from his own. So when he catches glimpse of the swordsman sparring he can’t help but watch in silence. He’s not knowledgeable enough to know what’s happening. Perhaps he could be if he tried, but he’s not at the moment. It’s just not something he’s bothered to learn, but he finds it none the less extremely interesting. The controlled way a swordsman fights is very different from what he’s used to. He’s seen Yeji fight plenty of times, but she’s not like this. Yeji’s wild- hard to contain. She’s not a clean fighter who watches her steps closely. No, Yeji is chaotic and perhaps just a bit dirty. That’s certainly not a bad thing, but the difference is very striking to someone who hasn’t really seen the differences before.
So he watches the fight- silent and observing. He wants to pick up as much information from this as he can. That may not be easy for him, but there’s bound to be things he can learn just from watching how a person fights. Yeji certainly fits her style. He’s hoping the swordsman will be similar. The again, he’s not sure how to deal with someone that controlled... Assuming his thoughts are correct, this might be a puzzle for him.
A smirk slips onto his face. That could actually be fun. He’s been bored here and there recently anyway, so he might as well see if he can buddy up to this particular swordsman and learn more about him. He needs more information anyway. He always needs more information.
So the moment the fight is over he practically skips over the the swordsman with the sweetest smile he can manage on his face. His hands are neatly gripping each other and he laughs just slightly. His act is still flawless- the way he likes it.
“Ah! I’m sorry to bother you! I just want to tell you that, well... You’re absolutely amazing! I’ve never seen anyone fight like that before.” He hums to himself and fidgets with his hair just a little. “Is that your specialty? I-I mean, um... Sword fighting, that is? It’s really great.”
