it’s less of an exact plot/character mapping and more of...a mishmash of tropes and aesthetics and plot devices? for example, Cloud Recesses has a Gondolin aesthetic but functions more like Doriath (LWJ is, of course, Luthien). Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling have a similar dynamic to Turgon and Maeglin, but Lotus Pier is more like Sirion than Gondolin. The Yunmeng siblings have a similar dynamic to the Nolofinweans (at least, the brothers do with reckless WWX/Fingon who would do anything for his bf & stubborn JC/Turgon who just wants his family to be safe and fails miserably; JYL and Aredhel are completely different).
I’m not 100% certain of the plot details?? But it’s very much inspired by Beren and Luthien. WWX was a mortal adopted by elves (kind of like Turin) and he goes to the Burial Mounds/Nan Dungortheb and eventually meets LWJ. There’s the whole coming-back-to-life thing, stealing the heart of the most beautifulest of elves (LWJ/Luthien), etc.
Lan Sizhui is Gil-galad. This fits with both “no one knows who his dad is” and “his dad is Known Gay Fingon/WWX.” As you can see WWX is stealing character traits from Beren, Fingon, and Turin... although if anyone has Turin energy it’s XXC (accidentally killing your best friend, anyone?). I guess WWX also has a cursed sword too.
JGY is kind of like Curufin in Nargothrond? Which makes NHS and NMJ a weird mix of Finrod and Orodreth vibes. Though aesthetically i think NMJ is more like Celegorm. JGY also has Turin’s incest plotline.
Jin Zixuan is like Galadriel but stupid.
The Wens are in Angband. Not sure how WQ and WN fit into that picture, though. XY is absolutely Sauron.
Baoshan Sanren & Lan Yi are Indis & Miriel though I’m fuzzy on the details.
As if this “plot” wasn’t already enough of a mess, I am absolutely crying at the thought of how to reconcile everyone’s names..... a part of me wants to translate everything into Quenya and/or Sindarin but I want the characters to be recognizable, you feel me?
as you can see this is a very half-formed concept but it’s fun to think about. if anyone has thoughts of their own to share - and maybe how things work with an au of silm characters in the untamed universe!!! i know i talked with @piyo-13 about maglor as a cultivator but there’s more ways you can do it i’m sure - or any advice on the linguistic nightmare this would be, please HMU!!
