The week or so following his proposal, Frederick stayed in his room for the most part. He did anything he could to keep his mind off of Jax, not wanting to be the one to cave first and call him when they both clearly needed space. He didn’t handle rejection well, but after a little over a week of silence, he wasn’t sure what else to do. Showering and getting himself dressed, he told himself he was fine, put on the face of a man who was unbothered by any previous events, and walked over to Jax’s room, knocking casually on his door.

She asked if we needed separate rooms before informing me that even if we did, it simply wasn’t an option because all of our guest rooms are taken,” he laughed. That’s a blatant lie, by the way, we have plenty of rooms. She just wanted to see my reaction.”
