“She is a very happy baby, trust me. I’ve seen plenty,” Jakob chuckled. Being the oldest of his siblings and cousins came in handy at times. Celena had two parents who loved her unconditionally, and plenty of people who spoiled her on the side. Of course she would be happy. Jakob knocked on the door and explained the situation to Jax when he answered. He made sure to thank them for watching her last minute, and promised to give notice next time, before handing their daughter off. “Alright. Now… we have the rest of the night to ourselves,” Jakob smiled, wrapping his arm around Daphne as they headed to the main doors.

“If you say so.” Daphne figured Jakob would know, since his family was so large. Once Celena was handed over to Jax, who really didn’t seem to mind taking her, she wrapped her arm around Jakob and followed his lead, still having no idea where they were going. “You know I would have been happy with dinner and having you all to myself in our room.”

“Mmm… you’re probably right about that,” Jakob laughed. He looked over at their daughter as Daphne mentioned her becoming a handful, sighing softly. “Well, if she’s anything like her mother I’m sure she won’t mind handling herself,” he chuckled. He kissed her back happily, not surprised when he felt her tug at his shirt. It resulted in a playful smirk on his part, shaking his head softly. If she wasn’t holding Celena he may have tried to return the gesture, but he didn’t want to wake their daughter. Wrapping his arm around her as they walked, he opened the door for them, leading her out first before following. “I can’t believe she’s going to be one soon…”

“I can’t believe it either,” Daphne sighed, actually hating that Celena was growing up so quickly. It was like yesterday that she’d been born, and now she was getting so big. “She’s happy, right? She seems happy.” That was all she had wanted for their daughter, though it was hard to gauge the emotions of a baby. When they reached Freddie’s door, she let Jakob knock, figuring it was best coming from him anyway- it had been his idea to ask Freddie to babysit anyway. Her brows raised and she smiled to herself when Jax answered- he always was so good with Celena, not that Freddie wasn’t.

Jakob smiled back at her, glad that she was playing along. He could tell that it amused her to repeat his words, which he found cute, actually. “No, I haven’t asked yet, but I know that he’ll say yes. He can’t say no to this face,” he joked, pointing to himself rather than Celena. “Or Celena’s, for that matter.” Laughing at his own commentary, Jakob shook his head. “Late for the things I have planned. We don’t have very specific time constraints, but I’d like as much time with you alone as I can get.” He smiled softly, nudging his nose against hers. “It’s a surprise, so I can’t tell you, but I think you’ll like it.”

“I doubt your cousin finds your face as annoyingly adorable as I do. Probably just annoying,” Daphne teased, nudging his shoulder with hers. “Celena is going to be a handful when she’s older, look at that face,” she cooed, leaning down and kissing their daughter’s forehead as she slept. Nothing made her as soft as Celena; she simply accepted that now. “You and your surprised, Jakob Bjorgman. Alright, let’s go,” she smiled and kissed him again, her hand tugging lightly at his shirt before letting him go and scooping Celena up in her arms, keeping her asleep, somehow.

“I guess he is sort of a loner,” Daphne shrugged her shoulders. Zaiden had a tough personality, much like herself. “Oh, that’s good. You seem really happy that he’s here,” she smiled, glad to see Jakob so light and carefree, especially with some of the drama lately. “Thanks. Hey, we’re never going to actually make it to Freddie’s if you keep doing that.” She sighed and brought her index finger to his chin, pulling him toward her and kissing him sweetly. 

“I am really happy. I missed him a lot. Don’t tell him I said that,” Jakob chuckled, half joking. He loved having Alek around, and now that he was at the palace Jakob was sure they’d get to spend more time together. “Doing what? I just enjoy kissing my wife,” the blond smiled. However, when she pulled him toward her with just a finger, he melted against her lips. “And that’s not going to make us late?” he rose a brow, placing his hands on her hips for a moment, stealing another quick kiss.

“Tell him what?” Daphne tilted her head to the side and smiled. She was hoping to become closer with Jakob’s family, so she was glad Alex was there. “Your wife,” she mused, still not used to the word. “Late for what? We don’t have a time that we need to leave unless you’ve already asked Freddie if he can watch Celena. And she’s sleeping.” She leaned into him, resting her forehead against his and relaxing. “So what is this plan of yours?”

“I’m sure that isn’t true, isn’t he known for distancing himself quite a bit?” Jakob chuckled. “Yes, he is, but he only recently arrived from what I understand. I got to spend some time with him already, which I’m really grateful for.” He smiled, just thinking about his brother. “Here, let me help.” Assisting Daphne in packing Celena’s bag, he kissed his wife on the cheek, letting his lips linger on her skin a moment longer than normal.

“Oh, alright. Zaiden...I haven’t heard from him lately. I’m actually concerned that he left the palace without telling me. Your brother is here? I had no idea. When did he get here?” Daphne started packing Celena’s things, looking over to make sure she was still napping.

"I think I've had a sort of epiphany. What do you say we ask Freddie to babysit for us? I want to take you out, just the two of us."

“An epiphany? That sounds really nice, actually. Are you sure Frederick isn’t busy, though?”

“That sounds safe. What happened? Did you get hurt? Did Celena get hurt? Where are we supposed to go? If we go back to Arendelle, Johanna could just follow us… Would we go back to Greece?”

“Zaiden’s house is extremely safe, you know that. No, none of us got hurt, of course not. I can trust Thea, she isn’t like the rest of her family.” She pursed her lips, trying to think of how to explain things to Jakob. “Not to Arendelle. We would go with Thea’s mother, Persephone. She’s the Goddess of Spring. And technically of the Underworld, but that part is less her style, I think.”

“Her name is Johanna… she’s Matthias’ sister. Apparently he was there too… There’s more to the story, but I do not want to discuss it here… Are you alright? What happened to make you believe it isn’t safe?”

“We need to discuss it, I don’t care where. Zaiden’s? No, I’m not alright. Thea said we need to leave, and she’s right.”

Laughing at Daphne’s comment, Reina nodded her head in an understanding manner. “ Then I won’t complain. I’m sure Celena does a great job at being your best friend — she seems to be a good listener. ” The princess joked back with another laugh, though soon enough it was replaced by a small smile, gaze shifting downwards. “ So I’ve heard … My brother always tells me that I need to relax, but I wouldn’t even know how to start. ” At the other’s reaction to the news, Reina smiled before letting out a small chuckle. “ Thank you but trust me, he is a good person too. He’s grown a lot since we met, in fact I’m very proud of him for that. He is a good person but, as you can imagine, was surrounded by bad things for too long. ” And while she couldn’t say the same about his brother, given the fact that she hardly knew Ariston, Reina was sure that that was the case with Taedyn. Nodding as Daphne talked about her cousins, she paid attention to the other, though a small chuckle escaped her red lips when asked about Taedyn’s opinion on her and Daphne. “ He knows that I consider you my friend, yes, and I’m sure he is well aware that I don’t need his permission or approval when it comes to who I associate with. I think he likes it when I patronize him a bit. ” She added with a laugh. “ So you’ve told Jakob about it then? How does he feel about all of this? ”

“She does, but she really can’t give much feedback. Mothers talk to themselves far too often, I swear I am losing my mind sometimes.” She smiled and nodded, understanding where her cousin was coming from. “Drink. At least some wine, that’s what I do.” The way Reina described her cousin was...interesting, although Daphne believed it was likely true as well. She didn’t know him well enough to judge. “Then I am proud of him too, though it means nothing to him. My uncle is horrible, I know that much. I don’t know that Taedyn gets much choice in what he does, but I’m sure he will figure it out, with you helping him.” For once, she wasn’t being sarcastic; she did hope her cousin got to live his own life. “Oh, so you are an independent woman who doesn’t need the permission of a man. Good, we are alike that way. Jakob is lucky I settled down at all,” she nodded, entirely serious. They weren’t even together for a good long while. “Oh, sort of. Not too much.. Jakob is...sensitive. I don’t think he would react well to it, and he doesn’t want me to do anything rash. We really haven’t spoken much lately, I think it’s just stress from. We never really got to go on a honeymoon, we probably could have used it.”
