"On Vanuatu Smiles, Island Time, and Shifting Perspective" One thing I wish people knew about Vanuatu is that people here have the most beautiful and genuine smiles. I love taking a stroll down the dusty plantation road and exchanging happy smiles with locals I pass. I also love how we can take minute (or thirty) and have a wonderful conversation, even if we have just met, and even if we were headed somewhere. It takes a shift in perspective from the hustle and bustle in the tick-tock world to a new life in Vanuatu where time doesn't always matter. Ironically time did tell; Over the past 10 months of living here, I have learned to relax and let things come as smoothly as the go. I've learned that 'Island Time' means living in the moment. Realizing now as I try to put this experience into words, I did not "take" a few minutes of my stroll to stop and talk. Nothing was taken and no time was wasted. Actually, these few minutes of conversation amongst the tropical forest of coconut trees were blessed because they happened, right at the perfect time...#IslandTime #livingthemoment #beautifulsmiles #ThePeaceWireProject meets #PeaceCorpsVanuatu #aelantaem #PeaceCorps
