The local Chicago troop Twin Peaks just dropped the official video for “Flavor” the feature track off their new album “Wild Onion”, coming August 5th.  The video, a testament to the daily grind of picking up a brick for the pool party and cruising for a smoke break, captures the routine wonderfully in this chuckle producing storyline. Twin Peaks’ dingy basement rock and roll popularity stemmed from their original mini-album “Sunken”, released July 7 2013. Keep a look out for these dudes as they spread Chicago sounds across the country. Watch above.

[FEATURED] Artist - Savior Self

Savior Self is a hard rocking powerhouse hailing from Chicago, IL. Guitarist Ken Ugel and bassist Kevin Konieczny had been writing music together for over 8 years prior, waiting for the perfect musicians to come along to join in their endeavors. Kevin Earl Joined as the second guitarist to complete the dual guitar attack with Ken in December 2012. In Early 2013, Vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Scott Nadeau moved to Chicago from Rockford, Michigan to study at Columbia College. Kevin E and Scott became friends leading to Scott's introduction to the band. A seasoned musician himself, Scott fit right in with the chemistry between Kevin K, Kevin E, and Ken U becoming lead vocalist. 

A shared love for all rocks sub genres between the Kevins, Ken and Scott gives Savior Self a hard-hitting sound with a hardcore/punk backbone layered over with a catchy pop sensibility. All songs are a written as a collaborative effort between the members. Savior Self does not yet have a full time drummer and they regularly perform as an acoustic four-piece, proving that their raw emotional songwriting is just as powerful when stripped down. Currently they are working with a fill-in drummer, Mike Gutierrez.

Since 2011 Savior Self has been relentlessly playing local shows around Chicago at venues such as The Bottom Lounge, The House of Blues, and Reggie’s Rock Club. This group of fun loving guys strives to bring their energy and passion out on the stage. Complete strangers will find themselves treated like family, quickly becoming fans with the hell of a live show Savior Self never fails to deliver. Savior Self has shared the stage with nationally touring acts such as: Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Broadway, First Things First, and Adema. As well as local acts: The Action Blast, She's Alive, Fist To The Sky, Storm The Front, Goodbye Good Sense, Knockout Kid, The Taillight Years, Call It Treason, and The Projection.

Listen/Download: Chilled and Fulfilled by AEMMP Records

Hashed out in the early days of January, Chilled and Fulfilled is an album that was written, recorded, mixed and mastered in 4 days during Columbia College Chicago’s J-Term 2014. Everything was created from scratch, from the music to even the bands.

This challenge was done as part of the Music Industry Immersion course that takes place twice a year at Columbia. This course is collaborative between three departments: Business and Entrepreneurship, Music, and Audio Arts + Acoustics. The album gets its name from the “Polar Vortex” that held Chicago hostage for the days during the production. Feel free to listen to and download the album for free and get music with a chilly vibe. [FEATURED] Artist - The Giving Tree Band

“Carve a band out of stone and try to see a treasure in everyone.” 

Hailing from Yorkville, IL The Giving Tree Band was formed in 2004 by brothers Todd and Eric Fink. They had been playing together for several years within various jam bands, but began to shy away from the electric guitars and distortion to create an outfit with a down-home acoustic aura. 

The brothers Fink (Eric as lead guitar and vocals and Todd – Banjo and vocals) added members: Norm Norman on mandolin/piano, Z rocking the kit, and Charlie Karls on bass. The Giving Tree Band is a unique grouping of individuals who refuse to be kept from their goals. The true scale of this band comes to fruition within their powerful live show. Every aspect of their performance is finely tuned and sharpened like the tip of a spear, carving its way through the air and into your senses. While GTB is many members they function as one powerful music entity. There’s the solid backbone of backroads bluegrass and folk; followed by the muscle that is their own blend of jam band rock n’ roll. Deadheads to country fans; there’s something that everyone can take away from The Giving Tree. 

With a recent tour with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and appearances at major music festivals in the last year, GTB has been gaining steam and fans across the country. With five albums to date, the most recent; Vacilador  ranked number 1 on The Austin Chronicle’s best of 2012 list. The Giving Trees’ rendition of the Grateful Dead’s “Brown-Eyed Woman” was heavily praised by the official Dead organization, which is a bond with those fans that will last a lifetime.

AEMMP Records is honored to have The Giving Tree Band as a headlining act at our day party during the 2014 SXSW Music Festival. The event is March 13th from Noon till 6pm located at Bat Bar.
