How long has it been since he’s seen her? Too long. Long enough for Garrick to lose count. He doesn’t even know why he suddenly got the urge to look for her again, by now he imagines she’s long forgotten about him; unlike him. He’s found himself thinking of her more and more often as of late, his mind drifting back tot he brief but altogether pleasant time he’d spent with her years ago. To think, he would have missed all of that if he had bailed on the party like he had planned to. Boy is he glad his father forced him to go, he wouldn’t take back any of what happened. Albeit, he might have tried harder to stay in contact.
Now, here he is, likely hundreds of miles from his home, looking for h e r. Violet. The woman who had captivated him so many years ago. Would she even remember him? I mean, the son of a lowly Drakkin king hardly qualified as important when compared to the daughter of Satan himself. Boy, was he stupid to think he really had a chance with someone like her. Granted it wasn’t like she explicitly told him, ‘hey, we can’t ever be together’ but their relationship just gradually fell away with the distance. And he has no doubt she is probably very busy, too.
God, what is he doing? This is a mistake. Even if he does manage to find her, what’s he gonna say? ‘Hey, yeah, I’ve been following your aura for hundreds of miles because I wanted to see you again. Totally not creepy.’ Yeah, right. He has half a mind to turn around and go home, but... the other half, the one that wants to see her again -- the one that loves those eyes and love the warmth of her laugh -- speaks louder than the other part of him that wants to run back home and forget this entire idea. But, the chance that she might be happy to see him again -- that he might get to see her smile again and spend time with her -- it makes it worth it.
At least it isn’t hard to find her. He knows her aura by heart by now. Her being as powerful as she is, it’s nearly impossible to mask that fully; especially to beings with heightened senses such as his. Even her smell is there, light and barely perceptible, but there. And it comes and goes with the wind. He knows he’s headed in the right direction.
Ten minutes of walking later and her aura is overpowering to the senses and he knows she is nearby. Pushing through the brush, the treeline opens to reveal a small clearing. And there she is, lying on the ground and looking up at the sky through the trees’ branches. He knows she likely heard and felt his approach, so he doesn’t bother hiding his presence. He is caught, though, staring at her. Just as beautiful as he remember; her dark skin dappled with sunlight showing through the forest’s canopy as a dark purple poor of hair rippled against the ground around her.
Garrick’s breath catches for a long moment, red eyes fixated on her. He blinks, forcing himself to breath and regain himself. If he just stands here gawking like some creep, then Violet would surely not want anything to do with him.
“ Violet? ” Good start, now?
“ Hey, uh... Wow. ” Nailed it.
