I made a bunch of alternate accounts to roleplay as either my characters or friends (because I barely had any irl friends that had accounts on the sites I was on and I had no social life whatsoever anyway) - spoiler, I still kinda do... 🤫
I think this all began with a little game I used to play back in the day called “Fantage”; it was a cutesy anime-like virtual world where you had an avatar, dressed it up, chatted with people, the whole shebang.
Then twelve-year-old me decided to make a few alternate accounts both to farm one of the premium currencies (eCoins) on my main account and pretend I had friends playing alongside me. I still remember two of these accounts: crazy_dave5 and littlelollipop4, who were meant to be my “younger brother” and either “little sister/cousin”, respectively.

Oh wait, this was the age where I often pretended I was Nannerl Mozart (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s sister) and had an imaginary little brother, but we’ll talk about that some other time shhhhhhhhh
Some of my other Fantage accounts included rainbowdash7123 and queen_delightful, whom I’m pretty sure I just used as “friends”, no imaginary relatives or any of that, lol. I know rainbowdash7123 was used to strictly buy eCoin items, as I couldn’t bear to do that on my main account given how hard it was to farm those other than watching ads or straight up buying them.

Unfortunately, Fantage is no longer around; it shut down in 2018.
In 2013, newly-teenage Maddy made an account on a site called AeriaGames, which hosted a bunch of those freemium MMOs with scantily-clad characters that pretty much required you to cough up some cash or you wouldn’t be one of the top players. Some of the games I played on that site included DDTank, Wartune, and Starlight Story, all of which were browser games that are no longer hosted on the site (as a matter of fact, there isn’t even a single browser-based game on there anymore, only PC/downloadable and mobile games).
But anyway, my AeriaGames account is actually still active on the site! It’s got a humanized GLaDOs (from the Portal games) as a profile picture (that’s probably just art created by someone else) since I was weirdly interested in that series back in the day even though I’d never even played the actual games.
Guess who’s on my friend list? ALL ALT ACCOUNTS!!

No idea why I made the Fluttershy or Decorum_Oceani accounts, though - probably just to have some more fake friends.
I additionally remember creating accounts for my fake little brother and sister/cousin on a site called “GoAnimate” (notorious name, I know - it’s now called “Vyond”), but again, that’s another can of worms that might be exposed in another post.
Back when Google Plus was still a thing (around 2016-2018), I would create account after account featuring Wolfgang and Nannerl Mozart, along with a bunch of other composers (Salieri, Vivaldi, and I think a few other people), but of course since that social network died in 2019, I can’t show you the posts made by those accounts. I still have all their emails saved and can access them, but since I’m paranoid and don’t want my data on any of those emails to be leaked, I’m not posting any screenshots of them now.
Lastly, there are my multitude of Twitter accounts centered around some random original characters of mine. I created them in 2018 when I kept getting blocked by Google for making too many accounts (at least I think that’s what happened? I think Google was tracking my IP address and thought I was spamming/botting), so I continued my roleplay between accounts on Twitter.
Unfortunately, later down the line, I would also be blocked from logging into my Twitter accounts... that is, unless I could “unlock” them with valid phone numbers. Of course, since I only have one phone number, I wouldn’t be able to unlock ALL of my accounts, just one. My accounts are all privated as well, so no luck viewing the actual tweets any of the accounts made. However, I can still view the accounts’ profiles through my main account (yes, I made all my alts follow my main, sue me)! Some of them are shown below, but I’m pretty sure I made more and I just forgot to have them follow my main like an idiot.

Notice how the Evangelus, Mariangela, and Princess accounts have Fantage profile pictures, lol. The Gelly account’s picture was made in like a Frozen dress up game, I think.
So yeah, those are all the alt/roleplay accounts I’ve had throughout the past! Very cringeworthy. But I did say I still technically do it, and...
These are my main and side Toontown accounts, respectively! Trust me, I don’t use the Nelly (bear) account as a fake friend; rather, she has helped my main account train gags and farm jellybeans! I’ve even used her to help my other toons on my main account.

EDIT (11/18/2021) - I JUST remembered I made alts back in around 2012/2013 on Moshi Monsters and made them make comments on my pin board to look like I had friends on that site. 🤪
Unfortunately, that site has since died and I can’t actually recover any screenshots or anything of my account as proof, so....... *shrugs*
Oh, and also vaguely I remember doing the same thing on Zwinky when that site was still a thing.
