Tome of the Night #37
((Long post, so it's under a read more.))
Let it here be recorded the hidden legacy of Da Ji, the Malefic Fox, which have transpired in the forest of Gravity Falls, Oregon
From Amaterasu, the Fox Who Shuns The Moon's point of view, on a recent trip to make amends with her past actions, she suddenly began to bleed on her arm. Now it was dismissed as an insect bite by her, but her husband, Alan Excitare, the Writer in the Strange Forest, was suspicious. He had every right to be, for it was not an insect bite but an injection of corrupted blood. This trick had been employed before by her enemies to corrupt her own self and turn her allegiance to their master.
From Da Ji, the Malefic Fox's point of view, she had finally finished a task that has taken the lives of millions to complete. However, she was refused her reward, and lashed out towards Amaterasu, being the nearest target. Her violence triggered Amaterasu's corruption far sooner than was intended. Da Ji was attacked by the corrupted goddess and nearly killed, while Alan Excitare had been tired for several days, and as such he was too weak to fight back. Da Ji ran only to encounter the divine being which promised her a greater role in life, and lost consciousness.
From Rose, the Drums of War's point of view, she was in emotional pain after finding her lover dead. However, she was neglected by her allies and went into the forest to peacefully end her own life. However, it was not to be. Through fate's mercy, her lover, Jack, the Dirge of Fire, was not deceased. Rather, he was never dead at all - having just finished a process that separates the body from the soul, although not aware that he was performing this. The body, now gone, became static. The soul had become a Reaper of its kind, a symbol of Death. Blind, Rose could not see Jack, but she could hear his voice. Their story, while seeming separate, will be crucial to this tale's ending.
From the point of view of Da Ji, the Malefic Fox, she had just awoken with new clothing, which she instantly recognized as that of a Huntress. This was the reward she was promised years ago, however, she was enraged. There was no reason for her reward to be delayed, or so she thought. As a Huntress, she knew her divine role was to hunt a threat and eliminate it. The threat, she found, was Amaterasu, or rather, the corruption which had overtaken her. Da Ji then ran out to find her target.
From the point of view of Jack, the Dirge of Fire, he was now returned to his other half, but he knew something was wrong with his other allies. Running into Da Ji, Jack spoke to her of his suspicions, which she confirmed. Da Ji then decided to create a plan - she would fight the corrupted Goddess until Jack could pin Amaterasu into a corner, where she would stay until the corruption was exorcised. Her reasoning being that even Gods fear death, Jack agreed, and they set out, the resulting events beginning a divine revolution and a small war in the supernatural world.
