Two days ago, I saw for the first time in my life a crashed airliner, an Aerosucre Boeing 727 cargo plane, which experienced a landing gear failure after an emergency landing at Barranquilla’s Ernesto Cortissoz Airport, this aircraft being the last operational 727 in Colombia.

The plane crash landed at 4 am, I saw it around 8 am on my way to a doctors appointment, which made me turn around twice just to see it better and take the above picture (almost missed my appointment because of this hehe), and it was finally removed after 9 am, as the airport only has that runway, and the plane had closed it.
The plane was declared a total write off, and with it, 59 years of continuous service in Colombia came to an end, when the first 727, bought by the national carrier Avianca, first arrived in Medellin in 1966.
It was a sad day for Colombian civil aviation, and a tragic yet hilariously fitting end for the 727, and I say hilarious because it was at the hands of Aerosucre, a cargo airline notorious for crashing 70% of its historic fleet, most of it being 727s.
