The Egg Dance, 1552, by Pieter Aertsen

Details:  In this brothel a young man does an egg dance on the music of the bagpipe player. He has to roll an egg within a chalk circle while dancing - without breaking it - and cover it with a wooden bowl. This "senseless" entertainment, together with the lamentable behavior of the other characters, is a moral admonition against immoral behavior.
