‘When choosing between being right and being kind, choose kind’
This is one of my favourite quotes. It sums up the meaning of kindness, perfectly.

What art activity did you take part in?
I took part in the HCA Virtual Gallery project. It was an art project for people aged 13 to 18 and took place over a zoom call. We met once a week and had to do a series of different creative activities by interpreting that week's brief in our own way. We looked at many different forms of art such as photography, film, digital posters and much more.
Here are some photos of me taking part in the Virtual Gallery Project:
This is a screenshot of the photo walk challenge (challenge 2) on the blog.

What did you learn?
I learnt many things from being on this project such as taking photos from new angles to make them look more interesting, how to make a digital poster on Canva, how to record audio and how to make a short film. I have also learnt about confidence and gained some social skills from doing this project for example I would say that I gained lots of confidence in doing new things and sharing my ideas. I also learnt how to blog and post things on Tumblr.
Three things you enjoyed:
1) I enjoyed all of this project but I especially enjoyed doing it in lockdown because lockdown was a perfect opportunity for me to try new things. Having this project to look forward to whilst being stuck at home was amazing and it stopped me from watching movies all day and made me want to get up and do interesting things.
2) I enjoyed doing the zoom games like the game we played in the last session and I enjoyed doing all the starters like the starter when we had to draw a household object but make it into a person and give it personality.
3) I enjoyed doing the photo walk as it was fun to do art whilst being outside and I also really like photography. I think I learnt some valuable skills about photography from the project.
What art skills did you improve?
I improved my confidence skills, blogging skills, photography skills, film making skills, digital art skills, social skills, and skills in using zoom. I think the main skills I improved at were blogging skills and digital art skills as I had never used tumblr before and never created digital art before but now I would consider myself confident in both of those skills. I found the project very educational but also very relaxed and fun and I would definitely want to do another project with HCA in future.
In the last session of the Virtual Gallery Project, everyone was asked to draw around their hand and inside it write about what it was like being part of the project. The thumb finger is something you enjoyed, the index finger is something you would like to point out about the project, the middle finger is something you didn’t enjoy about the project, the ring finger is something you treasure from the project, the pinkie finger is one thing you learnt from being on the project and the palm is about the future.
This is a painting that I finished about a year ago. It is of a girl called Princess Mononoke from the Studio Ghibli film Princess Mononoke. It took me weeks and weeks to complete and many times I thought about giving up and painting over it but in the end, I managed to finish it. I am very proud of it and it is now hanging on the wall in my bedroom.

My plan:
What art skill would you like to share?
I am going to teach my mum how to create an account on Tumblr. Tumblr is a platform used by people to post videos, pictures and text etc. People post political things, artwork, music and lots more but my mum is mostly going to post artistic things on her blog such as photos and paintings she has done. I am going to teach her how to post a photograph on Tumblr.
Who am I going to work with?
I am going to work with my mum and teach her how to post things on Tumblr.
How am I going to do it?
I am going to take my mum through step by step on how to create a Tumblr account and how to blog. I am going to write out and draw instructions on how to use Tumblr and post a picture. Then I will sit with her as she creates an account and answer any questions she has. Then we will take some photos around the house together and I will help her to post them on Tumblr.
What will I need?
I will need: a computer, pens and pencils (to make the step by step guide) and a phone (to take photos on).
What practice or preparation are you going to do?
In preparation I will write up and draw a step by step guide of how to post a picture on Tumblr so my mum can read through it as she is posting a photo. I am going to draw pictures for each step of the instructions. I will also need to make sure I log out of my Tumblr account completely so she can create a new account.
Here are my instructions on how to post a photo on Tumblr:
How are you going to make it fun and interesting?
I will make it fun and interesting by not being too serious with my teaching and just having fun with my mum whilst doing it. Me and my mum will do some photography together and decide which photos we want to post on the blog which will also be fun.
What will success look like?
My mum will have successfully created a Tumblr account on her own (with as little help from me as possible) and have posted one piece of her artwork. I will then get feedback from my mum telling me how good of a teacher I was and how confident she now is on blogging. I will record her telling me what she thought of my teaching.

My Review:
What went well?
I think overall it went very well. I helped my mum create an account on Tumblr and taught her how to post and she is now pretty confident on using Tumblr in general. We had a lot of fun together and I think I taught her in a way that was fun and relaxed.
Did everything go to plan?
Everything went to plan and I was successful in getting her to post some photos on Tumblr without much help.
What would I do differently?
To make it even better, I think I would not have given her the instructions first but instead I would have given them to her while she was posting a photo so she could refer to them whilst posting a photo if she needed to. I think I would also have tried to teach her more about other ways of posting e.g. posting a video or audio.
Feedback:
