Another possible reason Asmodeus left Ketch could be because he was high? How many hits of Archangel grace did he shoot himself up with? Two? Three? We can hope if it was a trick that Asmos plans fail as often as Fred’s do... :)
Hello anon!
Of course that is also a valid possibility. They did play with the Crowley parallels and his human blood addiction very deliberately, so it could absolutely be the case. Maybe we’ll get a scene of him in another episode, but... and yes, maybe I am expecting to much of Dabb and Co. lol the whole scenario of Ketch catching Aesmodeus shooting up and himletting the vials laying about when not in the room... There are just a whole lot of blanks left in that scene. Which is of course nothing new with SPN, but I hope with this one there is more to it.
In any case we can assume that the angel grace must have done something to Aesmodeus as he did appear much more focused on emotional burdences and redemption, which seems utterly ill-fitting to how and what we have seen of him prior, so maybe like with Crowley when he became more human and he started to talk about forgiveness, maybe the angel grace did spark some hidden emotion within Aesmodeus as well. His entire quote
“You want redemption, but you are never going to get it. Your kind, our kind, we can’t be redeemed. All we can do is spread our pain around. So no, you don’t know who you are. But I do. Which is why no matter where you go, no matter what you do: you’re mine.”
felt very omnious and alluding to for what’s to come.
Just read the official description for 13x20...
…and even though I hadn’t truly expected my crazy spec to be anywhere close to being a possibility, I personally would have enjoyed something a little more complex. Funnily enough though I had speculated back in february http://dustydreamsanddirtyscars.tumblr.com/post/171243709786/5x19-hammer-of-the-gods-13x13-devils that Kali might return and given Gabriel’s revenge on demigods who all died except her, it seems a good chance we may actually see her again.
Who knows, as @lemondropsonice just suggested to me the lore talks about Kali fighting against a demon that wants to undo the world’s balance. Which I suppose could be Aesmodeus (who as lore has it. an not only change his own appearance but also of other demons, so…. maybe Ketch is not Ketch, really or Lucifer (as fallen archangel and creator of demons). Would be interesting also how Kali returns if she returns or if she’d maybe choose another vessel… and who’d play that character then… if you know what I mean. ;)
Also, as I had added to my spec post yesterday, with Aesmodeus using angel grace to power himself up (become an archangel himself - he was Lucifer’s favourite after all before he disobeyed) to kill the other archangels himself with the archangel blade to become the only one left as powerful as him and possibly raising the shedim would also fit to this narrative with Kali fighting against a demon to “save” the world. Hmmmmm, possibly just more crazy ideas I just typed out that will lead nowhere in the show or be anywhere close to the actual thing bahahahah. But hey, theory spinning is fun sometimes.
