BANG CHAN
how they met :: while yuri was a trainee at JYP (2014)
bang chan is like an older brother to yuri — when they met yuri was only 15, and she had just moved to south korea when she became a trainee — she was still new to the new customs and culture, as well as the language. chan saw a part of himself in her, from when he was just starting out as a trainee and making his first big move. when they first met, chan immediately took yuri under his wing. he helped her with her korean studies, and cleared up any cultural confusion or shock that she had as well. without chan ... yuri would have been completely lost.
after yuri moved back to california in late 2014 and didn’t return until mid 2015 — her and chan lost touch. it wasn’t until yuri debuted in ioi that her and chan were able to reconnect, but with yuri now being an idol — it was still hard to stay in touch. they never truly reconnected until 2020 — two years after both stray kids and ateez had debuted and were granted at least some free time. but now, they are back to being besties!
they are always face-timing and hanging out together whenever they get the chance to — attempting to make up for lost time. they are really really close, and when they finally got back into touch, it was like nothing changed. they are the type of friends that it doesn’t matter if you haven’t talked in months or weeks, they are still each other’s best friends and pick right up from where they left off. yuri has been featured on many chan’s room lives, and everyone adores their friendship so much <3.
LEE MINHO
how they met :: kingdom/mcing
minho and yuri first met during kingdom — but it was only brief. they had short conversations here and there, but they didn’t get to truly know each other. when yuri became a mc for music core — her and minho were finally able to get to know each other and become friends!
they don’t hang out much outside of work — since they practically get to see each other every week — but they are constantly caught being mischievous before and after filming (sometimes even during!). everyone knows whenever yuri and minho are together ... that means that they are up to no good. yuri and minho are also overjoyed by the fact that they got to meet each others cat’s — they want to have a playdate ... but with leo taking after his mom and being overdramatic — it may not happen due to leo’s hatred of car rides.

HWANG HYUNJIN
how they met :: sopa
in late 2014 — yuri moved back to her home in san francisco due to mental health and safety reasons. she didnt return to south korea until the summer of 2015 – and during that time yuri did not attend school, causing her to be held back one year. yuri and her parents thought it would be best for her to go to a school where she could pursue her passion — music — so instead of going to a traditional highschool — she went seoul of peforming arts — commonly referred to as ‘sopa’.
yuri and hyunjin were in the same homeroom as each other for three years and were seatmates for the entirety of those three years. yuri and hyunjin didn’t meet in their classroom, though. they met on confession day in the hallways — when yuri was being confessed to in the hallways out of nowhere — hyunjin couldnt help but notice that she had looked extremely uncomfortable — and very confused — so he went over and ‘saved her’, and ever since they had been inseparable. hyunjin was yuri’s rock during highschool — and she was his. they both reminded eachother what it felt like to he a teenager — taking risks and having no care about what could happen next, just living your best life.
unfortunately — after both of them graduated, they drifted apart. they no longer had time to see each other with both of their debuts approaching very quickly. they both tried to stay in touch over the years — but they will never be able to return to the close friends they were in high school. they hate to admit it — but they were just ‘school friends’.
HAN JISUNG
how they met :: through blaise
yuri and blaise met when yuri was still a trainee at JYP — and she introduced yuri to jisung after yuri returned to south korea! the two of them instantly became besties after they found out both of them were interested in rap and producing, and often met at cafe’s after yuri finished school — and wrote many many songs together and produced so many songs on yuri’s dying computer.
yuri and jisung agreed to NEVER release the songs they made together, due to them being incredibly embarrassing and just something they want to keep between themselves as well. but, to this day, they are still writing songs together! they haven’t released any of it yet, but they plan on collaborating soon :) they were SO SO excited to collab on kingdom because they have been waiting for this moment for years!!!! literally everyone in the unit adored jisung and yuri so much because they are just so soft and adorable, their friendship is so precious. they are always cracking jokes and making each other giggle — and you just know whenever jisung and yuri hang out there will be destruction or dumb things said — but everyone loves them so it’s fine 😁 (ps. chan and hongjoong bond over the stress jisung and yuri give them.)
LEE FELIX
how they met :: kingdom
LITERALLY BABIES. THEY ARE SO PURE. yuri adores this boy WITH ALL OF HER HEART. she will literally do anything to protect him, so do not mess with felix or you will have yuri coming after you for the rest of your life 😁. yuri and felix met on sports day during kingdom — and after the two of them got talking, you could NOT separate them.
at the start of the episode, yuri ran over to where stray kids was standing so she could say hi to her friends — and the only member she didn’t meet yet was felix, so chan introduced the two of them! they were given some time to talk to each other and catch up, and felix stole yuri’s heart IMMEDIATELY. she absolutely could not get over how cute and funny he was, and she was so ready to adopt him and take him home with her ... but unfortunately she had to return to her own group 💔.
you could see yuri and felix interacting sooo much during this episode, and they were always so sad to go when they had to leave each other :(. thankfully, they were able to exchange numbers before the two of them had to leave (without the staff noticing of course), and after that they texted almost everyday! they quickly became close friends and now hang out whenever they have free time, and felix even shared his brownie and cookie recipe with yuri!
KIM SEUNGMIN
how they met :: isac
their first meeting was very embarrassing to say the least — more so yuri than seungmin, and they have still not recovered from it. their first meeting was at isac, and they kept bumping into each other right when the other was about to embarss themself.
the first incident included in seungmin flipping his water bottle, but instead of landing, it ended up hitting yuri in the back — since she was sitting close to where stray kids was. seungmin kept apologizing and yuri kept telling him it was okay, but seungmin still felt embarssed. the second incident happened when yuri was walking with ryujin, and she almost tripped over her feet, but seungmin and ryujin quickly grabbed onto her before she was able to fall on her face. both of them were equally embarrassed, and still haven’t been able to live it down from fans and their members.
they have the potential to become friends, but they need to get over their embarrassment before they even think about interacting again 💔. whenever they are in the same room, there is always awkward silence between them, until one of them gets the courage to start small talk...but it quickly gets quiet again 😭
JEON YOONAH
how they met :: when yuri was a trainee at JYP (2014)
yoonah and yuri are bffs!!! they met when blaise was first starting out as a trainee — and while yuri was fairly new as well, she took yoonah under her wing and was her mentor :(( yuri and yoonah were so so close, and still are! yuri is practically yoonah’s older sister by now, because when they were trainee’s yuri would always go home with yoonah during the holidays even when yuri transferred to kq!
to this day yuri and yoonah are still bff’s — they are always hanging out with each other and yuri even has a whole highlight dedicated to blaise on her instagram! the majority of yuri’s posts on her private instagram are just filled with dumb stuff the two of them do 😭. they are constantly giving ateez and stray kids a hard time whenever they hang out — but the boys are so used to it at this point they don’t even care. just the most chaotic best friends ever,, they know how to have fun fr.
YANG JEONGIN
how they met :: through hyunjin/sopa
with hyunjin and yuri being best friends during school, yuri and jeongin were bound to meet. yuri had often walked home with hyunjin, or at least to the train station and then go their separate ways, and that’s when she met jeongin. at first — the two of them didn’t talk much, due to jeongin being very shy in yuri’s presence to muster up the courage to talk to her, but after weeks of seeing yuri and hyunjin goof of on their way home, jeongin found himself tagging along with their antics.
jeongin looked up to yuri a lot during this time, even though she was completely irresponsible with her school work, she was a very passionate and hard working person when it came to doing something she loved. he admired her dedication and her determination to music and the idol-life, and often asked her for advice when things got hard for him. and she was honest with him each and everytime — and always helped him out. whenever jeongin had a problem but wasn’t ready to talk about it with his members, he always went to yuri.
yuri quickly became someone jeongin had been able to depend on, especially in the year leading to his debut. the two of them had always found a way to keep in contact even if their companies strongly disagreed. jeongin had reminded yuri a lot of her younger sister, dahlia, and she treated him as her own sibling. the two of them are still very very close, and will never give each other a break. they are always embarrassing and teasing one another, and even if jeongin tells a terrible story about her on live, she still adores him with all of her heart.
