The clouds look like they're going to break. It'll be a day of rain, and he yearns for it. Yearns to be alone, locked away in his hayloft where he won't have to think about anyone or anything.
His parents never mind when he goes away, locks himself up in his head.
Only, now his journal's gone missing, and he knows where he left it.
Does he dare go back to that riverbank? Now? Can he dare to face what he's done?

"Did you want something? The bakery's on the other side of the house." Red leaned over the garden wall, stood on tiptoes in order to better see the girl. She looked around Red's own age, and her spirits lifted slightly at the thought of being able to converse with another child - Cinderella was rather too old to count as a child, and Jack's favourite topic of conversation was still his missing cow. "I can run around with you, if you'd like, but I think Mr Baker's there anyway. Unless you were looking for someplace else."
