Aether Rewind : The Kawaii Girls of Instagram (part 5)Hannah Louise Goneau💙💎(@hannahgoneau)
A: Where are you from and where do you live now?
H:You may find this hard to believe, but I was born and grew up in a town called Luck, Wisconsin. The population was around one-thousand people. My graduating class was approximately fifty students. The worst part, though, was the fact that fashion was absolutely nonexistent there! I got teased badly the entire time I lived in Luck, which is why I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota the moment I graduated high school. I've lived here in Minneapolis ever since.
A: What inspires you / where do you get your inspiration from?
H: My source(s) of inspiration vary from time to time. Currently, I get most inspiration from watching 90's and early 2000's music videos. In my opinion, the 90's was one of the most brilliant decades in terms of fashion! I also am OBSESSED with watching fashion shows on YouTube. One that I am head over heels in LOVE with is the Alexandr McQueen Fall/Winter 2009-2010. It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it!
A: What is your favourite online store?
H:Haha, this might be kind of silly to say, but Ebay and Etsy! I love Ebay for two reasons: it's inexpensive, and it feels like cyber thrifting to me. You just gasp when you find that one special item that took you ten pages of browsing to get to. I love Etsy because they have many 90's items. It also feels very thrift-like to me. Also, I love all of the independent businesses on Etsy that handmade their clothes, accessories, bags, shoes, etc!
A: Favourite place to shop in real life?
H:I would have to say it's a tie: Savers thrift store or 7 Mile Fashion. It works out great because both shops are next to each other where I live! 7 Mile only has two locations. It's this "trashy" store that sells such a random assortment of items. They sell wigs, extensions, hats, cheap jewelry, socks, panties, tops, skirts, leggings, shoes, makeup, hair accessories, and hair products. I LOVE it because they have this amazing selection of really cute hair ties and clips. That's where I buy all of my hair accessories.
A: Do you study/work?
H: I am a full time student. This semester, I am so unbelievably busy with classes that there is not way I could hold down a job AND go to class. I work really hard to get the grades that I get! I am studying to become a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.
A: Favourite Sanrio character?
H: As far as cuteness goes, Rilakkuma! I also really really like Chococat because I have a black cat.
A: Your blog is beautifully open and touching -If you had to choose one piece of writing that meant the most to you what would it be and why?
H: Thank you! I think that my favorite post that I wrote is the one called "What it feels like to be free." I wrote that post originally in one of my journals and then posted it on my blog. Almost all of my posts on that blog were originally in one of my journals.
A: What's the dream for you?
H: To be happy, healthy, and love myself. I think that I have achieved that dream now. I think a lot of people dream of having money or objects and overlook the fact that money and objects are meaningless if you don't have your health and happiness.
A: You have a very individual quirky style! Where does your interest in fashion come from?
H: My interest in fashion originally started when I discovered the Spice Girls in third grade. Since then, I've always seen fashion as a way to express who I am as a person to to express how I feel. It's a form of art to me. Since I am not very good at other forms of art, I use fashion as my expression.
A: And lastly, which artist/designer is your biggest influence?
H: Alexander McQueen and/or the Spice Girls. I draw so much inspiration from both, despite the fact that they are both quite different! I wish I could create or design the items that McQueen did and I think that my personal style is heavily influenced by all of the Spice Girls.
