ÆTHERITE
Existing in tones from shimmering pastels to iridescent blacks, ætherite is a sediment runoff formed by the process of altering elemental frequencies, littering reality like microscopic dust. In dense enough quantities, however, it eagerly bonds together and changes states; first to a ‘suprafluid’ form, flowing infinitely within abstract limits and behaving somewhat like water, somewhat like plasma. As the ætherite gains mass and density, it gathers into hexagonal columns around the edges of the suprafluid, similar to the growth of bismuth crystals. Chunks of ætherite that have completely crystalized are incredibly powerful conductors of majiq, but equally difficult to work with and form into weaponry or tools. In spite of this, many dedicate their entire lives to the medium, and various items of power have been created, lost, and destroyed over the span of existence. The presence of ætherite with the plane of the Æther is so strong, not only is it the source of the crystalline substance’s name, but creatures native to the Æther actually use it for biological modifications or otherwise physically rely upon ætherite, such as Dragon hearts being chunks of pure ætherite.
