On Friday, Fishback appeared on the American Family Association's "Jenna Ellis In The Morning" program, hosted by one of President Donald Trump's former attorneys, where he opened the interview by praising the Trump administration for arresting independent journalist Don Lemon for his coverage of a group of anti-ICE protesters who invaded a church in Minneapolis earlier this month. "It is a good day for law and order in America," Fishback declared. "A man ransacked a church during Sunday service with BLM and antifa thugs. If our Founding Fathers knew that a bunch of thugs, led by Don Lemon, had ransacked a church on Sunday morning while parishioners were praising our awesome God, they would have likely called for his public execution." Jenna Ellis hosts election denier and fellow former Trump lawyer Cleta Mitchell to spread election misinformation

Jenna Ellis has hosted election denier and former Trump lawyer Cleta Mitchell on her radio show at least twice following Ellis’ recent indictment for her alleged role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election in Arizona. During the appearances, Mitchell and Ellis spread misinformation about noncitizens voting in the November 2024 election, with Mitchell alleging that this is part of “the Democrat secret plan to win this year.”  Mitchell is an election denier and former Trump attorney who leads the Election Integrity Network — which is a “coalition” of right-wing, election-denying activists that has reportedly recruited and trained poll watchers to seemingly monitor elections for alleged fraud. According to The Intercept, Mitchell “played a central role in the effort to stop the certification of the election in Georgia and beyond.”  Mitchell also reportedly “helped funnel money to groups working on the partisan Arizona ballot review that Trump and his allies have twisted to advance their false narrative” about voter fraud. 

Ellis, who is also a former Trump attorney, pleaded guilty in October 2023 to charges for her role in former President Donald Trump’s scheme to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. In April, Ellis was indicted by an Arizona grand jury and is “accused of organizing an attempt to use fake documents to persuade Congress not to certify Joe Biden’s victory.” Since being indicted in Arizona, Ellis has hosted Mitchell on her American Family Radio program at least twice. In these appearances, Ellis and Mitchell fearmongered about noncitizens voting in elections, which mirrored recent messaging from right-wing media and Republican politicians. Experts and media outlets have repeatedly debunked noncitizen voting as “extremely rare” — including in Arizona specifically.

American Family Radio, the audio broadcast of the anti-LGBTQ+ American Family Association (AFA), has announced that it will no longer air “Truth for Life,” the Wednesday morning program of 71-year-old church pastor Alistair Begg, because Begg said that Christians should attend the marriage of a transgender person. “My grandson is about to be married to a transgender person, and I don’t know what to do about this, and I’m calling to ask you to tell me what to do,” a grandmother reportedly asked Begg on a September 2023 installment of his podcast. Begg asked the grandmother, “Does your grandson understand that your belief in Jesus makes it such that you can’t countenance in any affirming way the choices that he has made in life?” When the woman responded, “Yes,” Begg said, “Well then, okay. As long as he knows that, then I suggest that you do go to the ceremony. And I suggest that you buy them a gift.” While she seemed surprised at his answer, Begg added, “People need to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. But… we’re going to have to take that risk a lot more if we want to build bridges into the hearts and lives of those who don’t understand Jesus and don’t understand that he is a King.” [...]

Begg’s response might seem like an expression of gay acceptance, but he previously called homosexuality “an unnatural decision” and “an expression of rebellion against God” in a 2022 broadcast. He also supports conversion therapy, the widely debunked pseudoscientific practice that purports to change people’s sexual orientation or gender identity. The AFA considers LGBTQ+ people “immoral,” “unnatural,” and “Satanic;” supports Russia’s so-called law against “gay propaganda” which jails people for any public expressions of LGBTQ+ identity; has said that LGBTQ+ people go to hell, founded Nazism, shouldn’t hold political office, and commit “domestic terrorism” whenever they have sex, according to Media Matters. The AFA also oversees One Million Moms, a group that regularly launches petitions against any company that features LGBTQ+ people in its media.

Bryan Fischer, host from the far-right hate group AFA's radio outfit AFR, tells followers only Christians have First Amendment rights

"Any practitioners of any other religion other than Christianity" don't have the free practice of religion or freedom of speech, they're telling followers.

The American Family Association (AFA) is a hate group masquerading as a Christian organization. Bryan Fischer, former spokesperson for the organization, is such an extremist the group cut ties with him as an executive.

Instead, he has his own show on their radio network, where he broadcasts xenophobic, racist, and, of course, anti-LGBTQ propaganda into Christian homes nationwide. A “religious” version of Infowars’ Alex Jones, Fischer traffics in conspiracy theories, fake legal analysis, hate speech and far right politics.

This time he’s telling his conservative followers that only Christians have First Amendment rights.

“The blunt, simple, direct, straightforward answer is that Wiccans do not have First Amendment rights. Nor do Muslims, nor do Jews, nor do Native Americans, nor do Rastafarians, nor do any practitioners of any other religion other than Christianity,” Fischer said on his program.

“Whatever the First Amendment is about, whatever protections it extends in the federal Constitution, those were just for Christianity. Christianity has First Amendment rights under the federal Constitution, no other religion does.”

In reality, every American has the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. This isn’t the first time, Fischer has made similar claims.

A similar organization, Focus on the Family, recently declared itself a church, saying all employees were members and the workplace cafeteria is their sanctuary. The move allows them to hide the names of donors in tax paperwork.

AFA’s Bryan Fischer baselessly suggests that people working for the federal government should not be granted the right to vote

On his American Family Radio program yesterday, Bryan Fischer floated the idea that people who work for the federal government ought to be prohibited from voting because they have a “conflict of interest.”

Citing an absurd election map recently posted by Breitbart, Fischer declared that most Americans voted for Donald Trump, while only the elites on the coasts and in Washington, D.C., voted for Hillary Clinton (conveniently ignoring the fact that Clinton wound up with nearly a million more votes overall.)

For this reason, Fischer then suggested that people who work for the government ought to be stripped of their right to vote.

Baselessly asserting that 90 percent of donations made by federal employees went to Clinton, Fischer declared that “we ought to seriously think about whether people who work for the federal government should be allowed to vote, simply for conflict of interest reasons.”

“To me, that’s a fair trade off,” he said. “You want to work for the federal government, you want to get that paycheck, you want to get that job security … you want all that, that’s fine; you’ll have to trade that for the opportunity to vote. Take your pick.”

Members of the military, of course, also receive their paychecks from the federal government and, under Fischer’s standard, would also have a “conflict of interest” regarding who becomes president, so presumably he would support stripping them of their right to vote as well, right?

AFA Radio Hate Spewer Bryan Fischer: MLK 'Would Be Ecstatic' About Mississippi's New Anti-LGBT Law [TW: Anti-LGBTQ Bigotry, Homophobia, Transphobia]

There are few Religious Right activists who can match American Family Radio's Bryan Fischer when it comes to relentless hatred and hostility toward the LGBT community, so it stands to reason that if he starts heaping praise upon something, there is a very good chance that that thing is awful.

Naturally, Fischer kicked off his radio broadcast today by showering praise upon a piece of legislation signed into law today by Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant that gives businesses, organizations and government officials the right to openly discriminate against gay people in the name of "religious liberty."

In Fischer's warped view, the new law actually prohibits discrimination by protecting the rights of Christians to discriminate against others ... because not being allowed to discriminate is itself a form of discrimination.

Hailing the new law as "outstanding" and "the best in the nation," Fischer rejoiced that Christians in his home states of Mississippi are now protected from "invidious discrimination" by "heterophobic bigots."

"Martin Luther King Jr. was all about protecting rights of conscience," Fischer laughably proclaimed. "That's what drove him; the right of conscience and protecting the right of conscience. Martin Luther King Jr. would be ecstatic with this bill. He would love this bill."

Apparently Fischer thinks that King was organizing and protesting not to end racial discrimination but rather in favor of the right of whites to openly discriminate against blacks in the name of "conscience."

Dear Bryan Fischer, MLK would more than likely OPPOSE #HB1523 if he were still alive on this planet.
