Are we gonna get a WTF Arsenal
Feel Like we kinda have to
1. We actually weren't terrible
Kinda like the Brighton Game last week but when they went down to ten players you could see Arsenal take the game by the scrum of the neck and go for it. It really shouldn't have taken it to happen but the fact they were able to regroup and get a point which was a fair reflection of the game overall is something we wouldn't have seen from them in seasons previous.
2. Subs (Attacking)
While we were good in the first half the subs in the second definitely made a good impression. Tobin had some good periods but she definitely isn't a fully fit and still getting used to the playing patterns that Arsenal play. I've always been big on the dynamic between Caitlin and Viv and when Caitlin came on a half time she played quite well especially considering it's been almost 2 months since she's played for the arsenal.
Stina came in and allowed Viv to Drop into the 10 and that Goal was fantastic. Caitlin wins the ball sends it to Viv who put a through ball for Stina to put home was something that was great to see can be great as the season continues. Frida probably played the best that she has been in a while. Dropping Kim to the 6 and allowing Frida as the 8 was a good choice.
3. Subs (Defending)
Granted with the centerbacks none were 90 minute fit so that had to be considered. Also the fact we subbed our actually LB who was playing center back and then our other LB get sent off wasn't great. It's gonna be interesting who is gonna play center back for Chelsea next week.
4. Midfield
She played very well but can we please get Jordan her 50th WSL Goal to get it off her back. With Chelsea we saw with Beth England she had it also hanging over her for a while but once she got it in she played a lot better.
Kim also was alright as mentioned previously dropping her into the 6 and letting Frida go forward as the 8 was the best plan by Jonas. Kim was great at disrupting play for united and allowing defensive cover to prevent breakaways.
5. Lia Wälti
I feel like we need a section just to appreciate Wally and the masterclass she put on today. She played DCM, both left and right center back and Left back and was absolutely superb at them all. She has always been a very consistent player for arsenal but today she was fantastic and she really doesn't get the credit she deserves.
6. Defending set pieces
Twice now they've conceded to United on set pieces and they've been caught out in other games as well. When looking ahead to games such as Chelsea and Wolfsberg they are teams that are very efficient with set pieces so that's something they are gonna have to work on.
Overall it was a good result given the overall game and the factors around it. It's good momentum knowing that they will have to play Chelsea away. McCabe is gonna be a loss for them especially if Catley isn't 90 minutes fit cause she is gonna have to deal with Erin Cuphert and Fran Kirby on the right side for Chelsea. Hopefully, Leah will be fit to play and Beth and Tobin aren't nursing large injuries.
