A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface.
The photographs that make up affiche instantanée were taken with Polaroid cameras and Impossible instant analog films. Digital reproductions of these photos have been printed on poster papers and exhibited as street billboards. Printed on “poor” supports, these photographs are calling for the viewer’s attention to focus only on the image and its physical and chemical characteristics. Brought to a format that is unusual for instant photography and bereaved of the classic white Polaroid frames, these shots expose a different approach to the fragility of the physical object and a form of analog art that only a few years ago was in danger of disappearing from the world.
affiche instantanée is curated by Guaizine and hosted inside CUCO Cucina Contemporanea in Via del Melarancio 4r, Florence (Italy). The exhibition is part of the Expolaroid international event, taking place worldwide every year during the month of April through exhibitions, workshop, projections, conferences, contests etc.
