Simple Affirmation and Rune Spell for Grace and Dignity Under Pressure
After the chaos of last year and the less then ideal start to this one, I thought I might share this rune that I have been using for a few years now.
This is rune helps promote grace and dignity under pressure. This is a slightly stylized version, but the core rune is simple: a center line and waxing crescent moon connected by a left to right downward diagonal line.
This is not a cleansing spell, it's not designed to clear you of your stress or whatever situation has you feeling strain, but rather to help the caster work with and/or through the emotions and situation. It is also designed to be a very simple and basic spell, so that no matter where you find yourself you can preform this if you feel you need it. (I cannot tell you the number of times I have done this in a public bathroom, or sitting in my car.)
To use this rune you need something reflective, a mirror preferably but a dark phone screen works just as good, so as long as you can clearly see yourself it will work.
As with all spells, you can make the set up as complex as you feel. You can cast a circle, light candles, or simply clap your hands to establish your space. It's not my place to dictate how a practitioner should practice, so I leave the specifics of the set up for you to decide.
Face your reflection and begin by taking a deep breath, and on the exhale allow the air and your lungs to expell the anxious energy that has built up inside of you. Do this as many times as it takes for you to feel ready to proceed. You might not necessarily feel free of your stress or anxiety, and that's okay, but continue to breathe untill you feel able to continue.
Once ready, make eye contact with your reflection. Using a finger (I use the pointer finger of my left hand, but that's because I cast using my left hand) draw a line from the center of your forehead to your chin. Then draw a half circle around your left eye. Finally, draw a diagonal line that extends through the semi circle across your nose and to your right cheek.
As you draw, allow the reflective surface to reflect these lines of energy back onto you. You might feel a tingling sensation on your face or you might not. From my experience with this spell, both sensations are normal.
One the rune has been drawn, state:
I have the power to handle stress with grace and dignity.
And that's the spell. End the spell however you normally would- clap your hands, take down your circle, ring a bell. However you do it, make sure it is done with purpose.
Theoretically, this spell could be done directly onto your own skin if there isn't a reflective surface avalible or if you are you have a visual impairment of some kind. I have never done it this way, but the principle behind the spell remains the same. You are still applying the energy of this spell to yourself.
Once again, this spell is not a cleansing spell nor is it designed to solve the source of your stress or anxiety. It is an aid, a tool to help you when you face and/or come to terms with a stressful situation. Use this spell as often as you need, and in the time in-between castings your reflection itself will provide a boost to its effects.
