When Political Principles Change, What Should Voters Ask?

A senator once voted to impeach Donald Trump after January 6, judging his conduct serious enough to warrant a constitutional response.Now that same senator is supporting a controversial nominee closely associated with Trump.The question is not whether there was a hidden “payoff.” Without evidence, that is speculation.The more important question is much simpler:What changed?Did the senator’s judgment change?Did the circumstances change?Did the nominee’s qualifications outweigh earlier concerns?Or did political calculation become more important than principle?Politicians are allowed to change their minds. Democracy does not require permanent political consistency.But when a public official makes a major reversal on a constitutional question, voters deserve an explanation.For me, this is bigger than one senator, one nominee, or one party.Principles should be stronger than personalities, institutions stronger than political loyalty, and public officials accountable for the decisions they make.What should voters demand when an elected official makes such a significant reversal?— وحیدالله نورزی
