The interrogation of Leo & Lisa (2006)
Kevin Spacey 30 Days Appreciation Challenge 1. First Kevin Spacey movie I have watched. Swimming with Sharks (1994) Character: Buddy Ackerman My story: I watched only the second half of the film the first time having missed the first. At the time I didn't know who Kevin Spacey was, but I was taken by his performance. The second time I watched the movie I had already watched the Usual Suspects & American Beauty (among other films) so he was one of my favourite actors. My conclusion was I liked Kevin Spacey before I knew his name.
Kevin Spacey 30 Days Appreciation Challenge 14. The Usual Suspects: Favourite quote And of course:
“...And like that... poof... he’s gone.”
“You have to always be ready, always be alive, and always be willing to move in a new direction.” Kevin Spacey
Kevin Spacey 30 Days Appreciation Challenge 4. Favourite Kevin Spacey movie from the 1990s
American Beauty (1999) If you ask me my top five favourite movies American Beauty is among them. So, I can't overlook it. Despite American Beauty being so... well, American (American town, American schools, American suburb, American dream... etc) it's also a movie that talks about hopes and dreams, disappointments, that strange middle age need to be someone new, someone better, someone you can actually live with. And that's universal.
I love cinematography, all characters are interesting. Chris Cooper gives an amazing performance as well. Lester is such a great character perfectly played by Kevin Spacey.
However, an honourable mention goes to
The Negotiator (1998)
because I can watch it again and again and always be entertained by it.
An underrated movie, in my humble opinion. Samuel Jacksom is the hero wrongly accused, but Kevin's Sabian is a wild card until the very moment. Sure, he's got a wife and daughter, but then again that doesn't say much, does it? After all, he's the actor who played John Doe and Keyser Soze just a couple of years earlier.
Action, drama, humour, lovely performances... and a good character. What's not to love?
I also loved and enjoyed the Big Kahuna as well, so I'd recommend that as well. Basically all his films from the 90s are entertaining. Watch them.
