For some reason, All For One sure was REALLY fucking angry at En in particular:

Mmmmmmm. So let’s talk about that.

The quirk disappears for 18 years. He can’t steal it off Bruce’s dead body- it’s already gone.

Either he knows someone else has it, or he doesn’t, but I lean toward him at least suspecting. The way he talks about Yoichi’s severed hand seems to me to confirm that he’s able to steal quirks off of dead bodies, or at least to sense them— that he Knows OFA is out there, evading him.

In any case, either he spends 18 years grieving or tearing Japan apart for it (or, well, both).

And then who emerges from the woodwork but Daigoro Banjo

OFA is back. It’s inside of Banjo. And for the first time in his entire life, AFO tries to steal a quirk factor, senses that that quirk factor IS inside Banjo’s body, but fails to take it.

And that’s the first time anyone has done that to him. Ever. He sees OFA again for the first time in 18 years, and Banjo resists him somehow.

And okay, Banjo- Banjo is nuts, man. Maybe this is just some kind of freak of nature, with the iron will he has.

So maybe it’s just Banjo.

Banjo has handed the quirk down to some scrawny kid. Some dude with an utterly meaningless quirk of his own and a tiny little body.

And when AFO tries to steal OFA from him, he fails for the second time in his life, and WHAT THE HELL, YOICHI.

En bears the brunt of that anger immediately. AFO kills the rest of them (sans Hikage), but En gets sliced the hell in half.

…I’m one of the folks who believes in the theory that AFO was Nana’s husband (“she told me enough, she told me you killed him”). It’s not necessary for the rest of this post. But with that in mind, I can add:

Nana witnessing AFO’s reaction to not being able to steal OFA from En— the kind of out of control enraged he gets when he can’t own something that he was supposed to own. Knowing immediately, and terrifyingly, that she made the right decision.
