Western Frontier Headcanons
So, I am of the firm belief that the Na'vi of the Western Frontier should have looked even more different than the Omaticaya but not to the extent of the Metkayina. So, here are my Headcanons for each Clan, including the Sarentu.
Aranahe
The Aranahe are your standard Forest Na'vi, blue with stripes, long tails with fur on the tip, and yellow to green eyes. Most of their uniqueness comes from their clothing.
To be considered an Adult by the Aranahe, you must first enter the nest of the Kinglor to find a silk cocoon, then spin the silk to be used. Then they hunt a talioang (sturmbeest), the meat is used to feast with the Clan, while the hide is tanned and turned into leather. The second to last thing is to claim an Ikran, falling and calling them which is actually an Aranahe only thing.
Taking the leather hide and Kinglor Silk, they then create their Ikrans first saddle. This is then celebrated with the feast.
They do weave Panopyra into their hair, but it is more commonly woven into loincloths or chest pieces to cast the pink glow across the different textiles.
Ikran are identical to the Omaticaya Ikran.
Zeswa'sopyu
The Zeswa resemble Cheetahs, spotted with stripes on the face only and more purple-blue colors and thicker, shorter tails to help with quick turning.
Shorter than most clans, normally the tallest only reach about 8'7, the shortest being about 8. Their legs are incredibly strong, more noticably muscular to make it easier for them to run, which is also why their arm muscles aren't quite as muscular. The only time the Zeswa climb is to climb the gorges or to claim an Ikran, which isn't super common.
To be considered adults by the Zeswa, you must hunt down a Kxaylkxa (Bladehead) which is a dangerous, strong creature. The meat is then used to feed the Clan in a feast. The Na'vi then used the bone to create their first spear, often decorating it with string made from the tendons that have more bone decorations carved. The leather is kept for the saddle of a Direhorse or for their Ikran, which is the last step.
The Ikran live amongst the arches of The Celebration Valley and Step's Cradle.
To signify they are ready to mate, the Zeswa will take the tendrils of the Kxetsikran (Banshee's tail) to weave into their hair, normally leaving it loose so when the wind comes, it flicks like the tail of an Ikran.
Ikran of the Plains have slightly larger wings, better for circling and catching updrafts.
Kame'tire
The Kame'tire resemble Leopards and Jaguars with rosettes instead of stripes, and teal-blue skin with gray undertones to blend in with the Clouded Forest. Their tails are the same length of the Forest Na'vi, but slightly thicker due to their time spent in the trees and climbing the tall pine-like trees. They have longer ears then most Na'vi, to better hear in such a fog covered area.
Not much difference outside of that. Their main difference comes from the thicker pads on their feet to further muffle their steps.
To be considered an adult by the Kame'tire, you must successfully hunt a Syìl (Meer Deer) to turn its fat into a successful medicine, judged by the Elders or Tsahik. The leather will then be turned into the saddle for an Ikran or Direhorse, or used for other things.
All Kame'tire have basic skills in healing, but have different jobs outside of that.
A mainly vegetarian Clan, due to their practice of Herbalism - hunted more after the death of the Sarentu, when they essentially stopped practicing herbalism.
To signify they are ready to mate, Kame'tire will wove wooden charms into their hair, normally painted with pale colors unique to their family or ones they enjoy made from Panopyra. These pieces can be as simple as painted wooden beads, or as complicated as miniature animals or wooden flowers.
Clouded Forest Ikran are the smallest of the Ikran living in the Western Frontier, due to the crowded, pale forest they live in. Incredibly quiet, not nearly as vocal as others.
Sarentu'alo
The Clan is named after Entu, with the preffix Sare meaning ''use'. So their clan name means 'Use Entu', but their true Clan name means 'Use Entu's Way', to remind them that his way was of peace, to carry on stories.
The Sarentu are a blend of Na'vi from all across both frontiers. Leaving its people to have all manner of colors, stripes or rosettes, tail shapes, and eyes colors.
The Sarentu considered their children as adults whenever they chose to take any of the other Clans, Iknimaya, but they were only considered Sarentu adults upon planting a new Tarsyu Sapling in whatever area they were in after claiming an Ikran.
While the Sarentu'alo are peaceful, their story did not start in peace. Their Tsahiks job is to be a spiritual leader, matriarch, and a shaman of the Clan, acting as the primary interpreter of Eywa, but the Olo'eyktans job is to care for the Clan as a whole, to help keep the peace, and to prepare the next generation for anything - the Olo'eyktan is chosen based on peacekeeping abilities and fighting abilities.
Capable of creating poisons from the variety of plants they have access to through their trials, but the most potent is one made from the sap of the Tarsyu Flower.
Na'vi of the Sarentu will wear the shed tendrils, petals, and leaves of the Tarsyu as decoration, adding them as pieces of home with whatever style of clothing they choose.
To signify they are ready to mate, they will copy the Clan they are in or choose which style they prepare. Sometimes will use multiple, such as wearing Panopyra and wooden charms, but it is up to preference.
Western Frontier Clans are less rigid in the sense that if one wishes to join the Sarentu, they are given a celebration before leaving. It is seen as a happy time to leave your clan for the Sarentu, since you will always be able to return and visit.
