As the health plan Muzungu, I am asked to make speeches on-the-fly all of the time. At this point, I have a few go-to ones. In Africa, you talk and discuss first...and then you act. This is me, doing what I do, initiating an informal focus group discussion in the rural village of Ryamarembo, after giving surveys/interviews to everyone present about the solar lamps they've been buying. KK is translating what I say into the vernacular language, Runyankole. Here in Bushenyi district, these discussions (used to impart knowledge) are referred to as "sensitizations." FYI: The men in the "room" behind me are drinking home brew. Apparently, after they sell large amounts of tea (the main cash crop in this village), they just stay drunk for awhile since they don't have anything else to do. :)
