#BostonRedline85 has come to its conclusion. What a wonderful & historic month! We accomplished all we came to do. Raise awareness on Redlining, its cultural effects & the 33-year life expectancy difference between Roxbury and Back Bay , collect data for curriculum development, and test our overall project month infrastructure, including our in-person streaming capacity. #Blackengineering We have learned a lot on how to better develop our project months moving forward. Our youth project month (Summer Project 2023) July 5th - Aug 12th . See you next year for #BostonRedline86. We gave respect and honor to our Bostonian ancestors who were expelled from the South End during Urban Renewal. 60% of this community was destroyed during the 1960's Our youth will be all set with new culturally engaging content with all the progress we have made during this Black History Month. We live streamed 14 events from 8 in person locations with 6 virtual livestreams. These different spots gave us the opportunity to test our streaming capacity. The youth will take over these jobs this summer. #blackengineering We have so many people to thank for their support. Join our guest panelist Marisol Morales, Executive Director of Carnegie Classifications for the American Council on Education as we discuss how our cultures can learn more about each other. Umoja Unity אַחְדוּת VIRTUAL - Thursday, February 23rd, 7 pm Private Event We are excited that our founder, Marlon Solomon will be the keynote speaker for the Boston Workers Circle - Learning for Action series. Although, this is a private event - we will post the video on Afrimerican TV - Youtube asap. This event will discuss Redlining but highlight Yellow lining as a modified version of Redlining. This tactic deployed on the Jewish community in the Franklin Park & Mattapan areas of Boston eventually expelled 68,000 jews. We had a great time @futurechefs with Ms. Glorya @gogobytes . Ms. Glorya did what she do and presented her dishes with class and quality. She leads our cultural nutrition program. We want all young people to learn to cook from their elders FYI, my Jollof rice was super delicious as usual 😎. We cooked and discussed the cultural cuisine, intergenerational educational of our young people through food. Thanks @educationwoman & @rbeybleu for making it out there! Love yall! Today's event not only highlights our cultural nutrition program - it also was our 1st attempt streaming a cooking show. Mission accomplished. Tomorrow, we explore the need for cultural nutrition education in our community. To ensure health, wellness, and economic opportunities are winning. Our cultural recipes need to be passed down through the generations by intergenerational cooking sessions. Bill Russell: Leader of Men project is our effort to get our Afrimerican Academy students to develop curriculum on the civil rights career of @realbillrussell this summer. As part of the #BostonRedline85 campaign to highlight the effect of Redlining, urban renewal, and the 33-year life expectancy difference between Roxbury and Back Bay. We want to thank Mr. Frank Farrow and the @officeofbma for their support for the Leader of Men project. We look forward to working to raise the history of the great Black Men of Boston like Bill Russell to new heights.
