In a small computer shop on the last floor of the Forico Mall, Osu, Charles, who's the owner in a comforting tone tells a friend "Chale, nowadays the computer jobs some no dey. The companies no dey employ again oo... But I dey hope sey you go get one." Charles' friend use to work in a limited liability company as a computer technician but he was laid off some months back. I visit the shop after three days and Charles' friend now works with him. This is not new to me. And this is because many young people in Accra are setting up businesses and organizations, and employing other young people to work with them. It's very visible in many of the young startups in the city. Young people are no more sitting idle and hoping to takeover in the future as leaders of the city as the politicians keep telling us. From IT to photography to farming and cultural production, young people are creating new technologies, and solving problems in their respective fields for the sustainable development of the city and the country as a whole. This is what my dear friend @findingneema calls @afropresentism. You should look up startups and organizations like @accrawedey @neospirituals @bisaapp @yoyotinz @twocedi @ishopgh @thestudioaccra @wanjofoods @mukasechic @beatphreaks @lokko08gh @serallio @creativespacesgh @finderskeepersoutfits + more. . . . 📷: Nana Osei - 2017 . . . #osu #foricomall #accra #ghana #africa #computer #technology #solutions #business #startup #young #create #sustainabledevelopment #development #afropresentism #ashantiimmigrant #streetstyle #streetphotography #blackandwhitephoto #accrawedey #everydayafrica (at Forico mall Osu)
