Is there any non-adobe After Effects -like program out there? Because turns out, and I hate to say it, I really depend on After FX. I can easily replace Photoshop, Premiere, Audition, yet After is this bottomless sandbox of post-production possibilities and I just... I need something like this okay?
I know about Nuke. But I'm afraid. Any other options?
I've been playing with brushes in Photoshop lately for animated things.

This is the tracking test I did on Saturday. There are a few dots left, since there were 10 put on the test subject, and I am lazy. I ended up "removing" 8 of the dots.
Basically I created a null and adjustment layer for each motion track. I linked the adjustment layer to the null, added a mask and a fast blur, to finish I did a bit of fiddling with the feather and mask expansion.
I still maintain that Mocha would be much better to use for our purposes in the actual vfx shot, since we'll be using a 3d model.

Alright, I made some footage with tracking. It works fine, though I think having Mocha would help with the 3d space.
Also getting rid of the tracking dots was an experience -_-
Basically I had to make a null object, track and adjustment layer (with one mask) for each dot. It was boring.

It is still a WIP but it looks pretty good and some of the things I've learned from it I can apply to my group project.
I was watching Part 1 of Basic Training in Video Copilot, and he said that you could make a tweak (instead of a different particle effect) to make rain. This was a pretty good attempt for the first go. I have a few things to change since it kinda clumps together. Pretty cool though ^_^
Also I can't work out how to move the camera once I start to key frame. It's being stubborn >:|

Edit2: Hopefully it's fixed now. I've had to change my export settings so it's not as crisp :(
This is the icy cavern textured. Now it's off to super-happy-fun-blog or Eve to switch in the character animation instead of my blocking. It's then back to me for the lighting and VFX
