I know this website loves reasons to hate AI so let me give you another one.
I work at a library and ever since this tech-fad rolled in it’s made our computers worse. Granted, our computers are old, but we don’t have the funding to replace and the patrons that depend on them are still generally glad that they are available. The age of the machines didn’t prevent people from doing their searches, writing documents, checking their emails, or doing their daily business — until we had to update our software to versions that included AI ‘helpers’. Adobe Acrobat’s is especially rough and has crashed our machines. In general, the speed of the machines has also taken a massive hit. It’s not like we can turn the features off and it feels very actively malicious that common-use/standard office software is causing this problem.
