//. when reijiro does karaoke, he usually sings well-known songs sung in english (usually alternative rock or heavy metal), or will back-up sing any extensive english lyrics in japanese songs (if applicable? idk if that’s a real thing, but if it is--). despite being able to speak japanese relatively fluently, he usually doesn’t speak it quite that fast, because he really has to think about what he’s going to say before he says it. if it’s not a lyric-heavy song, or if it’s one he knows extremely well, well enough to belt out lyrics faster than he can think them (which aren’t a lot to be fair), then he’ll be able to do it.
over time, reijiro will gradually lose his grasp on arabic, with english and japanese becoming his two primary languages (and probably chinese later on, i can't remember if i wrote a hc about him knowing or learning chinese or not fjdklsjfs).
German is beautiful
High German that is. A random post about this strange and bizarre language, which is often laughed at and which I feel attached to because it is the one I learned first.
This is something like a Song of Songs
German is less hard than rhythmic. It can be declaimed beautifully.
It is sophisticated because it has an elaborately braided syntax.
It is tolerant because it uses its neighbor's words as well as its own.
It is a concentrate, like a good brandy.
It is creative because it can combine any number of words into one.
It is elegant because it works well with changes of dynamics.
It is strong-willed when it plays with its metre in poetry - and it is, unlike many other languages, allowed to do so.
It is old and wise.
It is cryptic because of its many homonyms.
It is gentle because it has suffered from its own abyss.
But before and after suffering thus it made poets dance with it.
IMO this language is highly underestimated and undervalued; tainted by a wretched and ugly history and not yet really absolved from it… so I postulate: German is very beautiful.
