ADMITTEDLY, evan wasn’t in the right place to spy on potential members of the order, but his gut instincts hit an all time high that cold october night. leads would make him stand out among the others in his brethren. one thing he didn’t expect was a sudden attack from the one he was trailing after, though --- ‘ easy, sweetheart. you’re far too young to be serving in azkaban for the rest of your existence. ‘
pandora’s breath bubbled upwards from the barrel. she emerged, victorious bearing a bright green apple between her teeth. she took a definitive bite and pushed her wet hair out of her face. “get it? i’m bobbing for apples underwater because i’m a mermaid.” she gestured to her corseted top and layers of glittering skirts.

And so, here it was. A small school reunion for Halloween in Knockturn Alley. That was enough spookiness for Seb, who was dressed up as Carrie from Stephen King’s 1974 novel of the same name. Knockturn Alley wasn’t his favourite place to pop by, but upon hearing that there was a free apple cider and pumpkin pasty upon arrival, how could he say no?
So, in he walked wearing a full length dress and drenched from head to toe in blood. Despite them not being required for the costume, he added white eye contacts for added effect. After having a brief glance around the room to see who was already here, he spotted a familiar red head towards the back of the room in a toga, accompanied with a bow and arrow and he smiled with relief to see that she was here. She was the only person he was truly looking forward to see, especially as they vowed the other day to see each other and hang out a bit more often.
Strolling up behind her, he leaned in close and muttered “Happy Halloween, Artemis.”
‘ there you go. you’re learning, my friend. ’ james commented with an approving nod.
What? You’re not dressing up? Why?
He lost track of how many times he heard that statement. It wasn’t as if Humza was not festive. Like a true wizard, Halloween sent trickles of excitement through his veins, yet, for some undeniable reason, he couldn’t seem to get into his usual holiday spirit.
Maybe it was him, always paranoid, always expecting something harmful to happen at any given moment, but he wasn’t the type to shy away from saving. That Gryffindor pride made sure of that, and thus, he decided to be on watch in this pub that was littered with all things spooky.
But, he finally caved in and search and searched in Muggle shops for a red jacket. He had decided to go as James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause, due to the fact that it was easy to manage, did not require much thought process, yet still memorable enough (especially to Muggleborns and those closest to Muggles) without being a tip off. He stood at the edge of the room with a butterbeer (he had to keep his wits about him, of course), and almost didn’t hear what the person next to him said.
“Pardon? I didn’t quite hear you.”
