Where did the time go. There were 44 years between the age I was when the 2 photos were taken. To top it off, I am now a couple years older then the older photo. In the years in between so much happened, I traveled and lived 2 times in Southeast Asia, I graduated from college, came out twice (first as gay then as non-binary), was friends with many people with AIDS and lost far too many, I worked in public health for nearly 3 decades, I faced disability and chronic pain, I created a huge DVD, Blu-ray & 4K Blu-ray UHD Library, I’ve been a photographer for 44 years, I am a nerd and a geek, I fell in love with a wonderful man and spent 7 eventful years as his partner, I also continued the love of nature that started well before I was 18 and continued until now and into the future, I saw progress in the struggle for equality for everyone disenfranchised but I also saw setbacks and yet communities rebounded, protested, organized and kept striving for an equal and just future. Right now students are preparing to graduate from high schools, colleges and universities what challenges will they face? I certainly wish them well and encourage them to never lose their commitment to make the world a better place and to hold on to the things that bring you joy. I would never have survived this long if I wasn’t kind to my inner child and remembered to enjoy life, music, nature and being silly now and then. One more thing - travel - see new places - live in a different country - celebrate other cultures - you won’t regret it!
