Yet every source I follow still hosts a 99 to 1 ratio of climate scientists who say 1) climate change is real 2) it is going to be bad 3) humanity is to blame 4) we are running out of time to unfuck this shit

This is a corner of my first studio at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA. I spent a few years here after college and before grad school, making art and working as the center’s administrative assistant. I was mainly in the studio at night and usually nobody was around, which was peaceful but also nerve-racking when I needed to walk down the hall to the bathroom or when it was time to leave the building. My strategy was usually to swing open doors abruptly, so that if there was someone lurking around, they’d be startled and run away or at least I’d know someone was there first. Luckily, nobody was ever there. The studio had an old linoleum floor and there were overgrown fennel plants on either side of the building’s front door. The building is part of an old military base and my studio was probably once a small office.
