SWTOR Headcanon: Fate of Agent Kovach
In my own headcanon, my IA Ran Archer saw an opportunity in Kovach’s loyalty problems. She didn’t say a word to Lana about his true master but instead set an arrangement with him (it’s kind of a blackmail actually^^’): he would cut off all communications with Saresh (faking his death if needed) and he will no longer be an official part of SIS. Instead, he’ll work as a personal asset for her and he’ll have the mission to organize safe transfers of informations between her and Theron, in order to improve their efficiency in getting rid of Vitiate.
Several months have passed and a new year is about to begin...
Kovach: *entering Ran’s office on SSS quarters with rage* How could you do this to me Ma’am?! After everything I did for you!
Ran: *not lifting her eyes from the report she’s writing* Agent Kovach I know we share common goals and you’re a helpful asset but I’m still your goddamn Commanding Officer. You can’t walk in my office and talk to me like I was some secretary.
Kovach: *not chilling a bit* I might have thrown my cover away and endangered my own life... just to send a damn ‘Happy Lifeday’ message to him??!
Ran: *raises her eyes to him and marks a pause* How do you know it’s a personal message and not a code?
Kovach: *blind with rage* Because, with all my respect, I can recognize when you use a code or not Ma’am!
Ran: *marking another pause then straightens up from her chair* Agent... Kovach... Does this mean you deciphered the previous messages I gave you?
Kovach: *sweating hard* I...
Ran: *takes a candy from the plate on her desk and answering very calmly with a gentle little smile* Don’t lie to me Kovach. You know I can tell when you lie to me.
Kovach: *becoming more pale* Y-yes... *then pulling himself together* But it was for security measures! I had to make sure the code couldn’t be deciphered by SIS scans until it reached Agent Shan!
Ran: * answering with a languid tone of voice* Uhuh... You see, Agent Kovach, this is exactly the reason why your life is expendable... *opening slowly the candy wrapper* But you’re good at sending personal messages so... For this time... *swallowing the candy with the same gentle little smile* I think we can tell it was only for security measures.
Okay since I just finished Rise of the Emperor now on 3 out of the 4 characters involved in my headcanon, here’s what everyone was doing -
Tank and Havoc squad: Primarily helping with evacuations. Lycaea may have gotten them Imperial uniforms just so they didn’t freak out all of the Imperial citizens (them being in Havoc colors would probably be reassuring to any pubs left but the pubs were all soldiers so lycaea was like “lets priortize making sure the civvies are less freaked out over the pub soldiers”). I imagine Elara had some pretty complex feelings here, being back in Imperial space for the first time in idk over 5-7 years? that would be a good fanfic prompt for meself if i had the spoons to write any fanfic beyond the comic im working on right now
Tai and smuggler crew: Alternating between helping Tank evacuate and helping Theron and Lana with the main plot.
Lycaea and SW crew: on the main plot. I imagine her threatening holo message or w/e is the second most effective (jedi knights would be first because jedi knight’s is “um i killed u before and i can do it again”
Aereinys and Imperial agent crew: coordinating evacuations for Lana and helping Lana with intelligence.
little notes on character interactions (’ll add more later):
Everyone is at the big show down w/ the Emperor. Since Tank is the canon outlander it’s really important that she meets the emperor and is viewed as a threat before Kotfe. Otherwise like.... why would he give a damn about her?
Tai is terrified of everything and just wants to go home.
Lycaea is pretty confident. She’s normally confident and if you asked her why she wasn’t afraid she’d say something hopelessly dramatic like “I killed my fears years ago.” because she is a drama queen.
Aereinys winds up killing Kovach. In my head, Tank, Tai and Lycaea are at the Kovach confession thing - Lycaea would’ve suggested getting it out in the open. Tank would’ve agreed w/ calling Lana but would have *not* but Theron in the holo-call because then Lana might find out Theron had been trying to spy on her. So the confession goes down the same, except w/ pubs watching.
Tank would refuse to let Lycaea kill Kovach. Lycaea does not fight her on it becuase she doesn’t really care, kind of had a soft spot for Kovach anyway. Lana is mad.
Then Lana tells Aereinys to assassinate Kovach before he leaves, which she does. She fulfills the mission he was on when she killed him tho (which was freeing and evacuating some slaves). maybe they have a moment or talk or something? idk
playing thru rise of the emperor on agent because thats the only way to get to kotfe*, and finding out that agent hates kovach a lot less than she hates theron which is really weird, considering theron never actually lied to her like kovach did
*i know u can start it on ur mission terminal but it doesnt feel right to do it out of order
Letter imps side characters get if they let Kovach live:
agent kovach
thanks
My credentials have yet to be revoked amidst all the madness, so I'm using the opportunity to free a large slave camp and get them offworld. If I can find a droid to pilot a ship, I'm going to stay here and repeat.
I'm not telling you this to flaunt my freedom, but rather to illustrate that your decision was not in vain. I am still dedicated to the end of Vitiate's ins*ne grasp for power. Whatever compelled you to see me spared of Minister Beniko's punishment, I truly appreciate it.

its nice he does one good thing w/ his credentials. Saeyts like “good decision B)”
