Episode 1: A New Beginning
"WHAT WE DO FOR OURSELVES DIES WITH US. WHAT WE DO FOR OTHERS AND THE WORLD REMAINS AND IS IMMORTAL." - Albert Pine
Aaron Hotchner sat at the desk in his office, his pen making its way across the page in an effort to make a dent in the pile of paperwork that seemed to reside on his desk. Suddenly, he was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Come in,” he said, not looking up from his work until a moment later when he heard Anderson’s voice.
“What is it?” he inquired. “Sir, there’s someone here to see you, a... Ms.London?”
“Send her in.”
A young female nodded her head to Anderson, thanking him quietly as she entered the office of the Unit Chief. She extended her hand in greeting. “ Y/N London, sir.”
“Hotchner. Please, sit.” He motioned for her to sit, to which she did.
“I’m supposed to be meeting you regarding my interview for the position in the Behavioral Analysis Unit?”
“You have it,” he said matter-of-factly.
“I’m sorry?” Y/N asked, wanting to clarify she had just heard.
“You have it,” he repeated with a smile. “You’ve completed more than enough training hours, graduated from the Academy, and passed the field test with flying colors. Your intellect and your reputation precede you, Agent London.”
“Thank you, sir. I won’t let you down, Sir.” She said, a grin on her face. While her efforts had gotten her this far, she knew that she would still have to prove herself in the field.
“I trust that you won’t. And please, just ‘Hotchner’ is fine,” he told her. “The team has a case briefing in 20 minutes. We can do introductions then. I trust that you will be joining us?” he said, motioning to get up from his seat, as Y/N followed suit.
“Of course.” She smiled, quickly tucking her short hair behind her ear before shaking the Unit Chief’s hand once again.
“Good. See you in 20, Agent.”

Hotch walked into the briefing room, with his new colleague right behind him. When he entered the team was already getting situated, and the case was ready to be presented.
Hotch addressed the team, “Before we begin, briefly. Everyone, this is Agent Y/N London and she will be joining the BAU. We are on a time crunch, so we can make nice later. Garcia, the case.”
Y/N was greeted by multiple small welcome’s and hello’s which she accepted. She scanned the room at a glance, taking in the people around the table. Agent Hotchner sat at the head of the table, closest to the door. Y/N was sitting to his immediate right. On her right, was a lanky man, around her age, wearing sweater cardigan. On the other side of the table sat two women, one a brunette and one blonde, and next to them was... Dave?
The Italian man wore a surprised smile on his face. “Y/N ?” Y/N replied wit a smile and a small nod of her head. But their reunion would have to wait, because everyone was turning their head toward the front screen.
She turned her head toward the front of the room. Standing there, Y/N noticed a brightly dressed woman with give her a quick, excited wave before pressing a button on her clicker.“Hello everyone. Today we have the Russell family, a case from two years ago. One day, in the middle of the night, 9-year-old Brad Russell was abducted from home.”
She continued.“It gets worse.”“Three days later, while Mr. and Mrs.Russell were still grieving their missing child, they were murdered in their own house.” Garcia brought up the pictures of the couple on the screen, both stabbed.
“Unfortunately, this was not the only case. Two other families suffered the same fate, with their young children being abducted only to have the parents of that same be murdered within a three day period.”
A young blonde woman sitting at the table spoke up. “I think I remember hearing about this. But last I remember, no suspects were in custody and eventually, the case went cold. What changed?”
Garcia turned to her with a knowing smile. “That’s because Greensboro Police just found Brad Russell. Alive.”
“Greensboro Police have requested our help on this case. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to get the boy to talk and that’s where we come in. Hopefully, through this boy we can learn something about the other two.” Hotch informed the team.
“Wheel’s up in 30.”
