The day of his fiancee’s birthday was one he had been waiting for since the start of the new year, since it’s one of the very few days the year grants in which she allows herself to be spoiled without protesting (too much), and of course he’d go out of his way. He woke up extremely early to make her the most perfect breakfast, which he of course took to their bed. He took her out for lunch, then shopping afterwards (and of course she made him get stuff for himself too, but that was to be expected of his stubborn dork of a woman) and spent the whole day visiting places and having fun with her until he received one text saying they were safe to come back home, where all their friends had gathered for a little party in her honor. His family was there too, because they love this girl almost as much as himself does, and his joker of a dad stayed true to his word and provided a fried chicken dinner for everyone who attended. From KFC’s, of course. It wouldn’t be as funny if it was from whenever else, he thought. And it wasn’t until later at night, after everyone left and he was done cleaning the mess, after they had gotten in bed that he held her close and asked if she was ready for her birthday present. Of course, she wasn’t expecting that, she wasn’t expecting anything else, but did get her a little something. Very small in size, actually, but big in meaning at least to him. It was a small silver heart shaped locket with a tiny piece of amethyst in the middle (yes, it was custom made). Once open, on one side it had the very first picture they ever took together, and on the other side, the most recent one. There was a very wide smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes as he watched her look at it. He couldn’t help but stare adoringly, since her happy face was his favorite thing to look at in the whole world.
