"I had a feeling you would be here and I stepped out to grab a bite," he sighed, gesturing her to relax as he hung his lab coat. Today he had traded his tie and shirt for scrubs. Walking slowly over, he placed a pizza box on the coffee table. Giving Barney a pat, he sat by her legs. "Not much is open this late so I can't guarantee if it's good. But it's something though you shouldn't be up so late," he remarked with exhaustion in his voice, disregarding the circles under his own eyes.
Even though he looked disappointed, she really couldn't think of a better way to be woken up, there was something romantic about it.
"We're not having much luck in getting to dinner, getting time to ourselves are we?" Maria smiled at him and combed fingers through her hair, sure it had become incredibly mussed having fallen asleep on his sofa.
"Neither should you Joe, you look exhausted. What happened?" Maria asked taking a slice of pizza out of the box, it was just right for eating. "It's not bad." Maria said after swallowing her first bite. "I've had worse, but then I'm also quite hungry." She admitted.
