5 minute fic challenge

A few days ago @smokesforwolves and @agenthale tagged me to do the thing. Today was a good day so I'm finally writing again. Here, have the very beginning of the pirate au I've been meaning to write for a thousand years. You can almost consider it a Princess Bride au, if Buttercup had decided to go pirate hunting, and if Stiles was Buttercup. ----- "What, do you want me to go home? Grieve and move on like a good little boy? Marry someone else?" Scott's watching him with pity in his eyes. Stiles wants to scratch the look off his face. "I want you to still have a good life, Stiles. Derek would have-" "Don't fucking tell me what Derek would have wanted, okay? He's dead. I'll tell you what would make me better. Finding the bastards who took Derek from me. Destroying them. Watching them bleed to death. Then maybe I would rest, if it makes you happy. I've never wanted to stay still. How could I now? I can't... I can't do nothing, Scott. I have to do something. And I can't do this alone." This time, Stiles looks away, refusing to let Scott's pity get in his way, hoping sympathy will make Scott foolish enough to listen to his desperate pleas.  His father only told him the news days ago, and his shock has already bled through, leaving only raw anger bubbling through his veins. Scott won't ever have to feel this pain, but he must feel something. Stiles turns away, lets Scott think in silence. "Okay. You can come with me. But you have to understand that we're not on some pirate murdering revenge spree. You have to stop thinking about it. We're carrying cargo. That's it." Stiles agrees, needing to get away, ready to take any opportunity to escape the expectations people have for his mourning. He complies with Scott's requirements, agrees to follow orders from him as captain, and doesn't even hate himself for planning to do break that promise, to do whatever proves necessary to get the revenge he needs. The revenge he owes to Derek. ----- I'm not tagging anyone because it's been too long and I've been too absent to know who's done this or not. For the LGBT books, Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey is one of my favourites. Superheroes, pseudo-werewolves and lesbians.

And like the reincarnation of their patron saint, she will bring hope to all of Santa Olivia.
