wasn't sure the comments was the right place for this SO. After the Gortash Fight is when Calem realizes how much Karlach is scared and wants to live. Before he thought she was more like him and really just genuinely okay with dying. He begs her to go to the hells after that so he has time to go to Eorzea and grab Cid and Nero. He's sure the people he knows could build her a new heart, he just needs to give them time.

You see, that's the real fucking kicker about Karlach, really. The whole thing about her saying she'd rather die than go back to Avernus? Only really applied when she really had nothing truly tying her to Faerûn. Throughout the entirety of the game, we see Karlach slowly fall in love with life again, something that she had, briefly, lost in Avernus when she was going through the slog of The Blood Wars. She's literally seen the worst of what humanity / hell could truly do. Sell a friend. Kill. Murder. Fucking steal. The lot of it. So the second she high tailed out of it, there was always that phew, i'm back, if my engine kicks it, it kicks it. But Dammon gave her hope. Tav. The other companions. She fell completely and utterly in love with living again now that she could do it on her own terms.

The fact that she had friends? Honest to God friends who were less of a what she could do for them / they could do for her in turn. The fact that she willingly stuck her neck out for others and they did so in kind, because they cared about her and what happened to her.

The fear really kicks in around act 2 because she was functioning on mindless optimism, and that carried her right the way through to act 3, when she is standing over Gortash and she realised that while, yes, it was a victory, it was a hollow one. And death looming over her head like a guillotine? Kinda made her realise that she wasn't going to get fixed. She was either going to die here, or she was going to end up going back to Avernus. That loneliness. The mindlessness of fighting and now she wouldn't be offered whatever small grace she'd had fighting as Zariel's champion, because she would also be faced again Zariel's best.

Karlach swore blind that she didn't know why Zariel chose her because she was nowhere near her best soldier.

Though if we're being realistic about it, I am thinking Zariel saw a little bit of herself and how she was before The Ride™️, but that's a headcanon for another day.

Aaaaand I'm realising this isn't exactly what you planned this to look like when I answered this but ramblers are gonna ramble.

No but like, genuinely, unironically, I buy into that as an actual headcanon, at least as far as superficial stuff goes for Noct. Is it important in the grand scheme of things? No, he'd date anyone with any color hair if they passed the vibe check. It's more important to Noct that you love him for being him, and not because he's royal. Cliche? Yes. True? Absolutely, yes. He's demiromantic — he doesn't fall easily, but when he does, he falls hard.

For Prompto...I'm gonna tie this in with one of the other questions on the list, but he tends to be physically attracted to femininity or androgyny. Again, not to say he wouldn't date someone who was maybe more typically masculine, but it's bonus points, yanno? To answer this the same way I did for Noct, personality-wise, he needs someone that compliments his own energy, whether that's by matching it or balancing it out. He also finds confidence super attractive. Maybe because it's aspirational.

what is your muse's ideal first date?

For Noct, he'll want to get away from the crowds. Maybe drive you to a nice high vantage point in the Regalia, lay on the hood on a summer night, and gaze at the stars. Or maybe have a picnic on the beach on a weekday when it's not too crowded. The latter might just be an excuse to take his date fishing, but only if they're willing to indulge him and maybe learn a thing or two from him. He'd be just as willing to go and try out something that they enjoy. He just prefers quieter, more intimate settings — crowds tend to put him on edge.

Prompto will go anywhere as long as he can be out and about. He's not a "go to dinner and sit down and talk" kinda guy. Sightseeing! Amusement parks! Anywhere he can sneak cheeky little pictures of his date and compliment how nice they look! Shit, rent out some chocobos and go off to the races! He's gotta go out and do things and try his darndest to make his date smile and laugh! Though, of course, he'd be more than willing to crash in the evening once the adrenaline starts to wear off, and curl up for a cheesy bad movie and laugh about it before taking the lucky person home.

tbh this is a big part of why i ship ardyn/ignis so hard. as much as someone being kind and caring towards him would terrify ardyn, ignis has the patience and willpower that came from being made to care for noctis to him and the heat of his caring and his personality would draw ardyn in so fast.

he’s cold in his loneliness and ignis offers a warmth that he’s lacked in his life for so long. how would ardyn ever be able to resist that? he can’t. ignis is a bonfire in the dark night of his solitude and ardyn’s desperate for that warmth, craving it, and just.

/gestures.

i can make a lot of things that would seem innocent or horny where ardyn’s concerned very, very sad.

Promptio blossomed for me due to @battleshot's fantastic Prompto. I hadn't really even considered it before writing it with them and i'm so glad we took a stab at it because it's been amazing. Endless AUs as well as game time threads... Their banter is hilarious since they both have such strong personalities in their own ways. Prompto brings out Gladio's actual age rather than the composure he tries to keep up at all times and helps him emote and that's so important. They're able to be silly together and still have serious moments in between.

This is another one I have to thank my opinion on due to a mun. So, to Andrea. I thank you for Prompto and everything you do.
