I watched it!! Talk to me please, I know like, zero other people who watched it.
Let’s talk!
I loved it! Seeing Howard and Peggy again was a really nice touch, although Hayley’s age make up wasn’t very convincing, considering she’s supposed to be in her mid-sixties at least in that scene. The aging down of Michael Douglas was really well done though. I know a lot of people weren’t excited to have him as Hank (or have Hank at all, haha) but I knew I’d like him, and I did. It sucks that Janet was ‘dead’ and I do wonder how likely is it that they’ll follow through with what setting up Janet returning. It also would have been nice to see Hope in the suit at least once, although it made sense that Hank wouldn’t want her to. I loved how they subverted the ‘loser dad gives terrible gift to child for birthday’ trope, along with ‘evil stepdad’ and ‘unreasonable bitchy ex’.
My favourite character was definitely Luis - I could watch a whole movie about him going to art shows and wine tastings and telling weird, rambling stories! Sam ‘it’s important to me that Cap never knows about this’ Wilson was also great, of course. The movie felt much more connected to the wider universe than AoU, despite AoU being ensemble.
The movie felt a lot like Iron Man in the sense that Hank tears down everything his entire empire because of the corruption inside of it. It definitely had echoes of simpler times in the MCU.
