Demographics in Fanfiction
A little more than a month ago, I posted a link on my blog to a survey that sought to collect data on fanfiction demographics and perceptions about slash and mpreg fics in order to enhance a paper I was writing for a queer theory class. I also promised that I would share those results here, so here is post one of two (post two about perceptions can be found here), which looks at some of the demographics of fanfiction readers. If you are interested in reading my paper, you can message me privately [Warning: I am considerably critical of mpreg fanfiction, as well as tropes and ships that I myself frequently read and enjoy, so you would read at your own discretion].
Also, do keep in mind that because I am a Marvel blog, this data may not be representative of all fandoms and fanfiction.
Those participants who were under 18 were excluded due to issues of informed consent, which resulted in a total sample size of 222 respondents.
