Featuring works by #JanKempenaers #KasperAndreasen #AglaiaKonrad #RiaPacquée #SimonPopper #MitjaTušek and more, the artistic positions are set against an exhibition design conceived by Kris Kimpe and Koenraad Dedobbeleer, a kind of communal archive that systematically displays a selection of contemporary artists’ books. The works closely relate to the codex of the book as a medium for artistic expression, as well as to the different gestures of reproduction that are representative of artists working in various media. The publication brings together some twenty-five autonomous contributions from the exhibited artists, a thematic introduction, an interview with the book collector Gregorio Magnani, as well as images of the exhibition installation. A bibliography offers a selected overview of exhibited books as seen per artist in recent decades. Curated, compiled, and edited by Kasper Andreasen. Our corporeal experience of space is something we exist within, but may not always be conscious of. Urban development is intrinsic to the shape of society, and architecture physiologically affects us on a daily basis. Artist Aglaia Konrad’s lens-based practice surveys the built environment and the modern mediation of space, revealing her interest in the effects of architecture and urban construction upon society and culture. Konrad’s work reflects on the experience of the structuring of space and the composition of social forms. She explains “it concerns all of us, there is no escape, it’s all done by us, for us, we cannot blame anyone else”.
